Walking is great excersize

Any extra walking will help, don't feel you have to start with an hour a day. Choose one of these simple habits to add in.

1. Try parking the car further from the entrance. Not a mile away just not right next to the door. This is a wonderful habit to start around Christmas, no more stress at not finding a parking spot, you don't want one next to the door anyway.

2. Take the stairs, if up and down is too much to start, go with only up or only down. Use stairs at malls, work, Drs apointments, anywhere. If you have children this is the perfect time to teach them to walk, and lose the elevator required stroller.

3. Ditch the car. not all the time, but pick a distance and walk to anywher closer than that. For my family it is less than 1 mile we walk. I have small children limiting me. For others it is 2 or 5 or even more miles. A good rule of thumb is if it would take longer to get in the car, buckle up, wait at lights, and drive, then walk.

4. Turn off the TV and do something, dance, charades, play catch or a sport, or even a slow board game. You will keep your brain more awake. Which burns more calories, (and bonus is better for family life.)

5. Take the smoke break at work (if you get paid to work) and use it to walk around a bit, go see that old friend on the other side of the building, or head off around the grounds, take advntage of the landscaping if your busness does that. If you must smoke leave the ciggarets in the car and walk there before smoking (even if you park relativly close it is still more calories than having them in your pocket)
