Generation No. 1

GEORGE THOMPSON was born in England on April 11th, 1830. His parents are Matthew Thompson and Alice Ford. He died April 14th, 1912 in Harrison, New Jersey. He married Mary Butler of Ireland sometime before 1853, apparently not in New Jersey.

MARY BUTLER was born in Ireland about 1830, her name appears only in the federal census record of 1860. She died February 10, 1861 in Newark, New Jersey. It appears she died due to complications of the stillborn birth of her son. She is buried with her daughter johanna and son (?) joseph in the Cemetery of the Holy Sepulchre. Haven't found the death record of margaret yet. The baptismal records of the first four children list her surname and that of her sisters, margaret and deborah ann, as Battinore, not sure why. This unusual name appears in a certain part of Cork. If Deborah is indeed her sister, then her parents are John Butler and Johanna Welsh.

GEORGE THOMPSON married Deborah Anne Butler August 29, 1865 at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Newark. She is probably Mary's sister. Ann Thompson died January 18, 1916 and she is buried with George and her son Joseph in the Cemetery of the Holy Sepulchre in Newark, New Jersey.

She died due to complications of the birth of her son Thomas on October 27, 1891 in Newark, New Jersey.
