The Flaming Star nebula is located in the winter constellation Auriga. This nebular complex includes blue reflection components as well as red emission nebulosity resulting from the fluorescence of hydrogen gas. The brightest star in this image has a brightness of Magnitude 6.0, placing it just above the threshold for naked-eye visibility from a dark location.
