Chapter 11

By March, 2000, 95% of the house was finished.  There were still some minor details that needed to be fixed, but for the most part, it was all over.  Here are some shots taken in April, 2000.

The back The back

Two shots of the back of the house.  On the left you can see the screened-in porch, the patio doors that lead to the Lake Room, and the bow window in the dining room.  The shot on the right shows the dining room window, master bedroom above, the door that will eventually lead to the greenhouse and, above that, the master bathroom window.  Off on the right is the rear garage door, salvaged from the old house.

The side

A shot taken from the garage side of the house.  The study window is in the center, with Renay's sewing room window above.  On the right you can see the two pillars of the front porch.

The front door From the balcony

A shot of the entryway, both from floor level, and from the balcony above.  The entryway pillars, which mirror those outside, are one of my favorite features.  Those are closets on either side of the front door.

Bookshelf Stairs

Here's a close-up shot of one of the built-in bookcases that frame the entryway.  The shot on the right is the stairway and hall, which are just to the left of the entryway.

Kitchen Tile
This is the kitchen island.  The countertop has a curved front, to mirror the design of the archway over the doorway.  On the right is a close-up shot of the tilework over the range.
Kitchen Kitchen
A view of the left side of the kitchen; the hallway in back leads to the pantry, the mudroom, and the garage.  On the right is that same wall, as seen from inside the kitchen.
Pantry Dining area
Here's a peek inside the pantry, and a look at the dining area.  The bow window in the dining room looks out on the lake, and it, too, mirrors the design of the kitchen archway and countertop.

Let's see more!
