| I'm very proud to say that this shot won 1st Place/Color Model Photography at the NMRA "Independence Junction" convention in Philadelphia, July 2006. This shot was also the "Scenery" section heading photo in the 2007 Walthers catalog, and was selected to be the July photo in the NMRA's 2007 Calendar. Obviously, it's one of my favorites! |

| The scene is on the lake
area of my layout, between Glen
Oaks (to the right) and a yet-to-be-built farm area (to the left).
The shot was taken with my Konica Minolta A200 8-megapixel digital camera. As with the previous Walthers and NMRA calendar shots, this was lit by a single 75-watt bulb in the track lighting on the ceiling. It was exposed at f/11 for 15 seconds. The background above the trees (which is only mounted on foamcore to hide the layout behind it) was "blown out" by simply lighting the back layout wall. The details around the lake are the subject of an article I've submitted to Railroad Model Craftsman magazine. The water is EnviroTex Lite, the boat and motor are from J.L. Innovative Design, the bridge is MicroEngineering, and the locomotive is a Life-Like Proto 2000 0-8-0. The fisherman is an old Weston figure. The orange PFE reefer was scratchbuilt for my "Master Builder-Cars" certificate. The trees -- and there are over 100 -- are either handmade from Bragdon's Finescale Forest material, or air fern, or painted ragweed. And yes, those are 3 fish in the lake to the right of the boat!
