Here's the shot I took for the 2005  NMRA calendar which was selected for the month of June.  I'm very honored to have been one of the 12 shots chosen out of the 125 submitted.
It's late afternoon just outside the town of Froton and the switching chores are just about complete for yet another lazy summer day on Gerry Leone's HO scale Bona Vista Railroad.
The shot was taken with my Olympus C-4000 4-megapixel digital camera.  The scene was lit by a single 75-watt incandescent bulb (not even a photoflood!) which was mounted on the ceiling; there was a white "fill" card to the right of the camera.  The exposure was 4-seconds at probably f/5 or so.  If you notice, there's no crossbuck marking the tracks for the traffic on this road -- I had to remove it because it was smack-dab in the center of the scene.

The sawmill is scratchbuilt from plans in an old issue of Model Railroader, entitled "Charlie Wyman's Mill." (Campbell later came out with two kits based on these same plans, "Saez Sash and Door.") The boxcar was completely scratchbuilt and won Best of Show in the Thousand Lakes Region's model contest in May, 2004.  The engine is a Life-Like Proto 2000 0-8-0.

No Photoshopping or retouching was done on this shot whatsoever.
