KERN RIVER, Sierra Nevada Mountains in California. These pictures are from two trips taken in 1981
and 1982. The headwaters of the Kern River are on the western flanks of Mt. Whitney. From there, the river flows
south, eventually reaching California's central valley near Bakersfield. We spent all our time on the upper reaches
of the river, at elevations ranging from 6,000 to 10,000 feet.
