Free[dom of] Verse

(Written to Mark Woodruff, who was the first to post
some Free Verse when I initially started reading
the Poetry Echo)

Mark, you were the one
That so incredibly
Changed my view of poetry.

To write as whim struck,
To adhere to only your
Own view of
How it all should flow.

The anarchist of meter
The Anti-Christ of form.

Making mystical messages
Pass from your mind
To mine, from greatness to
A sort of empty room.

From bright sunlight and laughter
To darkness, and silent rivulets of
Saline tears.

I really hope you,
From time to time,
Check-in and read our
Words sublime.

Just the kids here
On the block,
But you're missed sorely Mark,
Drop back in and spin us a tale.

Draped in gossamer
Shaded with your
Far ranging mind.
