Tippy Tapping at My Door!

I heard the knock upon the door,
Looked from the T.V. and leapt off the floor,
He stood and told me just how to do it,
I listened politely then said, “No!”
He thanked me quietly, and turned to go.

I closed the door and lay back down,
Concentration ruined, my forehead a frown,
I thought about what he had said,
I knew that my life was in a rut,
Too stupid was I, to get off my butt.

All the next day, I puzzled and thought,
Bored with my life, with fear was fraught,
I trudge from day, to week, to endless year,
Trapped in my safe and challenge-less job,
Color me drab, a lackluster blob.

I came to a startling conclusion,
Life for me was just an illusion,
No satisfaction, and little reward,
Excitement in my life, that's what I'm missin',
I promised myself, next time, I'd listen.
