Even More Poetry

Mark, complained about
My bent towards banal
Conversation and idle
Chatter that had little
To do with poetry and
Nothing at all to add
To the growing fund of
Man's knowledge on this
Spinning blue marble
Called home by most
Of us. Of course,
He can poke fun
At me, he doesn't
Have to carry the
Weight of the planet
Upon his burly shoulders
Nor to press his fine featured nose
Against the rough grindstone nor
Put his work weary shoulder to the
Stubborn wheel. Nor walk the
Straight and narrow
All the while trying to keep it between
The ditches while attempting to
Shoulder his load.
So, sure it is easy for
Him to ask ME to adhere to
A purpose, one that is
Weighty with women's endless need
For SCHMALTZ and teary-
Eyed prose that wrings
Your heart strings and
Pulls your tender caring
Love out of you in response
To heart rending tales of
Misty windows, and tear
Filled eyes, forgotten loves
And unrequited ardor. Sure,
It's simple for him. Well I
Am here to tell you, it
Is not so simple for me!

See what provoked this pontification!
