Meandering down life's lane,
Choosing a path not rife with pain,
Points of insight that I choose,
Scorning the gallery's differing views.
From time-to-troubled-time,
Gently nudged, diverted from my goal,
Resulting differences sublime,
Growth and expansion of my soul.
Catching my pent-up breath,
The onrush of inevitable Death,
That far off diaphanous end,
Choosing the seconds that I spend.
Looking back, I sometimes ponder,
Could I change this random track,
Making it straight, not to wander,
But as the Persian said, “Alack!”
Relishing the fullness of life,
Carefully picking to avoid the strife,
Now the curtain slowly descends,
With quavering voice my choices, defends!
