The Beat Goes On

MS> Dale, I well see that your talents
MS> Have not the least been stretched by this
MS> However since you'll not rest in bliss
MS> We can continue on in torrents
MS> Of another form, I do insist.

Huffing and puffing and trying to keep abreast
Dale deftly plunges into his poetic reservoir
Struggling and straining afeer'd there is no more
Finding that for the wicked there is scarcely a rest
Pandora's Box has been breached, there are words galore.

MS> Though the meter may not be concise
MS> a different form evolveth here
MS> Something not to raise the fear
MS> Of being all too much and precise
MS> But the message we may still hear.

Pushing and pulling the stubborn sounds
Trying to match what Michael has done
Not wanting to surrender, concluding the fun
Maintaining the pattern, not to stray out of bounds
But synapses groan, sparks fly, I'm coming undone.

MS> And now they call us 'Dueling Poeters'
MS> As we issue stanza and verse
MS> But our lives are not the worse
MS> For being such go-getters
MS> But it does ought to fill the purse.

Doth I find the enjoyment diminishing
Writing upon demand not just for pleasure
Competing on-line, critical eyes quick to measure
Reputation in ruin, not big on finishing
What chance accrues, this is the dawning of a treasure?

MS> And somehow I feel like its been a chore
MS> But you should really take a big bow
MS> For all of your efforts I'll allow
MS> That you certainly aren't a bore.

Well, many a name I've been called
Over the years, ambling down my path
But “boring” ain't one, you make me laugh
Elucidate I won't, you'd be appalled.

MS> Treasure, I'm certain could very well be
MS> Just right over beyond the horizon
MS> For wherever one sows seeds you see
MS> That help not harm anybody
MS> Is where one should keep his eyes on.

Mountains of Gold, the picture is alluring,
Harvest bounty for water under the trestle
A “Happy Camper” this method is assuring
For creativity would languish without reward
'Tis a concept with which I need not wrestle.
