Poems & Sonnets Date : 14-Jun-90 From : Dale Malone To : CWSubject : Awaiting a Response
Wrote to you a poem,
Thought that I lured you,
To write some verse,
For all of us lesser minds,
Sitting here awaiting your
Response, but let me tell you
Chris, I growled and made
Quite a fuss, when noticed you
Had read, but deigned not to reply.
Don't you see we are looking to
Share with you, your talent?
To stimulate your razor sharp wit,
To receive your bouquet of words.
If I am being a terrible boor,
Just ignore me once or twice more.
You can predict my flagging
Enthusiasm, and crush my desire
To share, but Chris, please
Join us from time-to-time,
Your poetry I find refreshing.
Your fountain of knowledge,
Is imbued with a sureness and
With a mixture of youthful
Insight, and an intuitive
Grasp of words and thoughts.
You have a Hitchcock-ness about
Some of the things that you write.
I always love your twists and
turns,
The way your words avoid my being
Able to predict where they will end.
So if I don't rub you wrong,
Join us here and share a little
Of yourself, and help us grow in our
Awareness of what sparks of brilliance
Flash in the minds of youth today.
