I live in San Diego, California, where I'm starting a new career as a librarian. I work at the Solana Beach branch of the San Diego County Library as a "Library Technician I." When I first moved to San Diego in May 2003, I obtained my ABA Paralegal Certificate from the University of San Diego and worked as a legal secretary for two years until I could get a library job.
I used to work full-time in religious education, serving on various parish staffs for over 8 years. However, when the economic downturn forced Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester, MN, to eliminate my position, I decided it was time to find a more recession-resistant field. I also wanted to experience the "weekend" things I kept hearing my friends who work in the secular world talk about. Since teaching and theology are in my blood, though, I'm trying to figure out how to put my skills to use outside my M-F job. I'm a lifelong Episcopalian, and worship at St. Paul's Cathedral.
I grew up in Annapolis,Maryland and have lived in Williamsburg, Va.; Asheville, NC; Princeton, NJ; and then, Charlottesville, Va, where I worked at Westminster Presbyterian Church, before moving to Minnesota to work at Calvary. Having started on the East Coast, I've now migrated all the way to the West Coast.
I'm a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Virginia and of Princeton Theological Seminary.
