Installing GradeMail on a computer
running a Windows operating system (Vista, XP or 2000) is accomplished using an installer program downloaded to your computer.
You will need to be using an
account on your computer with administrative privileges. The installer will check
this. If necessary, the installer will prompt you to use a different account
with administrative privileges for the install. If administrative privileges
cannot be attained, the installer will abort without having installed GradeMail.
GradeMail requires having a
recent Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed on the computer in addition to the GradeMail software. The installer will automatically check to see if an appropriate JRE is already installed. If necessary, the installer will guide you through downloading and installing a free JRE available from
the Sun Microsystems Java Website via the Internet. Read the prompts carefully - it is not necessary to install Open
Office if that is offered as an option.
You may upgrade or repair a
GradeMail application already installed on your computer. If you install GradeMail
in the same location as a previous installation, any course and email configuration will be retained and will not be deleted
or removed. Also, the installation of GradeMail has no effect on any Excel spreadsheets
being referenced by GradeMail.
Perform the following steps
to install or upgrade GradeMail:

to find on your computer, such as the Desktop. The installer program can be deleted
once the install is finished.
-
Double-click the installer
icon to initiate execution of the installer.
-
Respond to installer prompts
until the installation is complete.
-
Delete the installer program.
