Keeper of The LIght
September 11th was a horrible day in the life of this nation and the world. I doubt that any of us will ever forget the images or the feelings of fear, anger, and helplessness that we all experienced. There have been many fundraisers and other events organized to provide monetary support to the families of those who lost loved ones. Red, white & blue ribbons are being worn by many people to show their respect of our country.
Beautiful web pages are springing up all over the place honoring the lives of those who were
lost and patriotism is at an all time high.
In no way am I attempting to minimize what anyone went through, or is still going through. What I am trying to get across is this, as tragic as it was, it's time to turn it into something positive. We owe the people whose lives were ended so abruptly at least that. God gave us all the gift of free will. How we choose to live our lives post tragedy is up to us. I, for one, refuse to live my life in fear. I ask you to think about The R.M.S. Titanic and the impact its sinking has had on the shipping industry. Look at all the positive changes and safety protocols that came out of it. I pray that the airline industry, as one example, will look at what has happened and set forth changes that will benefit us all.
God placed this idea on my heart and I have to say...this time...I ran with it!
What started out as an idea to begin a simple email campaign, has now grown to encompass the web as well. Here's what you can do to show that you are keeping the light of hope alive.
WHAT DO I DO?
Turn your porch light on one night a week. Sound simple? It is! If you don't have a porch light, turn on a light in your home that can be seen from the outside.
WHICH NIGHT SHOULD I TURN IT ON?
Tuesday, as in Tuesday, September 11, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006..........................
HOW LONG SHOULD I LEAVE IT ON?
That's up to you. Leave it on until you go to bed or leave it on all night. I will continue turning my light on until our troops come home.
HOW DOES THIS SHOW SUPPORT?
Think about it. Think about all the families and friends who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. Think about all of the men and women who are now fighting for our country and are away from their homes and families. Think about all of the people who are still involved in the recovery efforts. Think about the people who have to go out there every day and get on an airplane for their jobs.
Let's light up the night one night a week and show the folks who are left behind that we are thinking about them and we are behind them. Let's spread the light into the darkness and help take away the fear!
