Well, that was fun. Far from glitch-free, however; nevertheless, it was a great opportunity to re-establish
some ties from old-school days, and for that I am particularly grateful. As stated before (and I meant it then, too), some
of those kids were damnably talented and really brought the house down. It was a pleasure backing 'em up, even in my small
way.
Now, of course, the "Real World" beckons once again. Since the
"Curse of the Presidents" seems to be taking its sweet time in kicking in, I suppose we'll have to be content with our fearless leader's attempts
to do the job all on his own.
Now, truly, anyone can take a spill on a bike. I really can't hold that against the man. However, it
is helpful to see just what kind of bike it was:
Ooooo! How un-American! It's a trikey made in China. Ouch!
All right, I think the fates have conspired against me. This is my third time trying to post,
the first two tries having flown out the window in a blaze of glory. Let us pray that this time works.
SO: This next week are the final rehearsals for the Blair High Ovations show, as referenced
in the previous post. Friday and Saturday night will see your humble narrator a-singin' and a-dancin' through a section of
Man of La Mancha as well as chorus work in a few other tunes. Whoo-hoo! Really, I'm proud to be onstage with some very
talented kids. The process has been fun, and I'm looking forward to the results. If anyone local is reading this is free that
weekend (5.21 and 5.22), contact me and I'll tell ya more.
In the meantime, school proceeds as usual. However, I'm more than halfway through my last quarter of
classes! Current big project? A paper on feminist ideology in the Alien movies. Cool!
I attended my Honors Convocation a couple of weeks ago, and was handed a couple of nice shiny pieces
of paper by Prof. Trick, one of them signed by the current head of the CSULA Alumni Association: Barry Gordon, former child
actor and co-star, alongside Jason Robards, of one of my favorite flicks of all time, A Thousand Clowns. What
I haven't had to do to get an autograph!

Things seemed to have mellowed a bit between the Kid and myself, which is nice. As a present for having
achieved "Student of the Month" in her Math class recently, I purchsed a couple of tickets for her and a friend to see the
"Wango Tango" all-day/all-night pop show at the Rose Bowl this weekend. Apparently, they had a good time. She's maturing a
little every day in a lot of ways...unfortunately, her mom (the X) seems to be devolving in the opposite direction. Oh well,
I guess that explains (along with a hundred thousand other things) why we're no longer together. No matter--I'm stupendously
content where I am, thank you very much.
