Idea for a Group Build (aka read my thread)

I had this great idea for a group build after watching a tv show and building a small house for myself in SL (details on the house coming soon). Read about it at this thread. Read it. Now. What are you waiting for, 1.6?

The Remains of DarkLife Castle

DarkLife castle Remains
Originally uploaded by Goshua Lament.
DarkLife was a RPG within Second Life. Last night, the castle that housed the game was torn down. Objects had to be returned due to a permissions issue of some sort, as far as I can tell.
I have some great memories of the castle. I never got to play the RPG itself, but I have had skirmishes and swordfights in the castle. I had a particularly good fight with Phil Mars one day.

I remember exploring the many chambers and passageways when I first joined. Some of the RPG components and monsters were still there and I was worried about being killed by the giant spiders. Since then, I have always made a trip to it when I visit DarkWood.

Towards the castle's final days, it started to become a target for vandals. Invisible cubes blocked doorways and particles spewed in the basements. One room was full of motorcycles for sale. Another had some anime figure. Soon, a large hole started to appear in floor of the main hall. It was turning into a sandbox.

I'm a little sad to see it go, but as Haney Linden told me, "Second Life is all about change."

Another Boring Day

Today was uneventful. I wandered through some events and browsed the forums. Not many intersting threads. It's time to build something in SL.

Clear Skies

While tring out different debug menu functions, I turned off fog. WOW! It makes such a difference. The colors are so....vibrant. Its almost like a whole new SL. It makes my photos look so much more colorful.

Man, SL is great.

Steel Oil Drum

Steel Oil Drum
Originally uploaded by Goshua Lament.
Tonight I dropped by an event going on at Tribal Drums. Tribal Drums is a club where you make the music. The event was a drum-building contest. I stopped by towards the end of the event and saw some great finished drums.

Here I am in the photo with a steel drum that I made. The model is an oil drum that I used in a project. I am doing a "kick dance" and pounding on the drum. A automatic timekeeper script keeps the beats in snyc.

While I was at the event, I ran into Alby Yellowknife. I know him from the forums, but previously had never met him in world.

Rock Bass
Originally uploaded by Goshua Lament.

The second photo is a rock bass that I made from the drum script. It plays 5 sounds. The model was made by a Linden, the animation by Damien Fate, and the sounds were recorded in Apple GarageBand. I sometimes wear both the bass and the drum and go from telehub to telehub entertaining people.

I have to go to events like this more often.

Aleph

Aleph, the city of the Ouranos Group, is undergoing a redesign. Great modern build. I've been enjoying hanging out there. Go check it out when it is still publically viewable. Go to Aleph.
