Madeleine, Golden Retriever, Six Months

Just before Madeleine turned 6 months on 10/05/06 we took a short camping trip to the Mammoth Lakes area. Not only was she very good on the 7 hour car trip but she seemed a born tent camper. On one of our early morning walks around the Twin Lakes she spotted a bear. As we crept back to our campgsite the bear ambled along after us.

After I nearly froze at night we checked into a motel where she seemed equally at home. One day we had an excursion up to the Tioga Pass area with an outing on Saddelbag Lake. September 30 was the last day in 2006 that the water taxi took passengers across the lake for hiking and fishing in that magnificent area. At six months Maddie weighed 45 lbs and measured 19.5 inches at the withers.
