Grand Turk Turks & Caicos Islands November 1-8, 2003 |
||||||||
| At 4:00AM
we boarded the bus. It left with no heat – and a jerk. And just that quickly we were on our way To the island of Grand Turk. Some luggage lost along the way, And yet we never faltered. With this close diving family Our spirits were not altered. Not altered until we arrived At the remote Arawak Inn, Owned by a man named “Mr. Lee”. Our hearts he did not win. “Divers don’t drink”, is what he said. The man is off his rocker! I think that, had we had a chance, He’d now be in Davy’s locker! The accommodations, how spacious! Palatial compared to some. Save for the lack of a restaurant, It burned down before we did come. And so we had to improvise For food and beer and wine. Thank God for our dear Annie! We all did drink and dine. You’ve heard of hokey pokey? Well, we had Mookie Pookie With food to satisfy us all (though the name’s a little kookie). Turk’s Head Hotel and Water’s Edge, The Osprey and Chubbie’s, too - We ate at a lot of places. For us it was all brand new. Now then, as for the diving, They say it fit the bill. Oasis Divers led the way With Dale and Paul and Phil. One boat had a little problem With one of its spark plugs. Fortunately it wasn’t hard to fix. I can’t say that about the bugs! Mosquitos, mosquitos everywhere! – Especially at the dusk hours. And they even got a little worse After the brief rain showers! Crabs, lobsters, bat fish, eels and such – We saw them by the score. And after every dive It made us want to go for more. Baby octopus and fish With names like hog and frog, Nurse sharks and sea horses galore, And on shore, Wacky, the dog. We can’t forget our bartender Brandon, the engineer. He filled us up with scotch and Coke As well as wine and beer. So once again our wonderful group Gives thanks from every faction To our dear leaders of adventure Jim and Kathy Jackson. |
