Actual Emails Sent to Mel Martinez from Me.
Senator Martinez,
I was listening to your comments this morning regarding the defeat of the immigration bill you helped to construct. You
said that the legislative will just wasn't there to pass this bill. Your complaint against current immigration policy, according
to your statements, is that:
1. there are no strong legal mechanisms in place to enforce laws against hiring illegal immigrants
2. that the bills' death in the Senate would only lead to more illegality.
Let's take the statement about legislative will first. The legislative will of the Senate created this bill behind closed
doors with the intent to get it passed BEFORE the American public could read it. The legislative will of the Senate fought
to speed this bill through as fast as possible. The legislative will of the Senate in an unprecedented move returned the rejected
bill to the table within weeks trying to get the bill passed by threatening the Senators who did not support it.
When 80% of your constituents and 80% of our country opposed this measure, YOUR legislative will disregarded the will
of the citizens who put you there and flagrantly flaunted the power you have been entrusted with. We jammed your phone banks,
burned through your fax machines, and picketed in front of your offices and STILL you disregarded our will and substituted
your own. This leads to one of two conclusions, either you don't have the intelligence to recognize that the Senate DID "will"
this bill and that it was good, old-fashioned democracy that defeated you, or that you are a liar still insisting that your
constituents support this bill. Which is it?
Now about those strong legal mechanisms... how strong does a WALL have to be, you promised us that the wall would be
built, you funded it and we trusted you for the last time; where is the Wall, Sen. Martinez? How about the mechanisms called
deportation that we seem to have forgotten we have at our disposal? Or are we too busy offering immunity to the illegals in
exchange for testimony against those who guard our borders because they have the audacity to do their jobs?
How about fining and imprisoning business owners who hire illegals, that law is already on the books, what exactly do
we have to add to that to make it more, "strong"? more laws?
Now about the fact that the death of this bill will cause more illegality. That is the most absurd argument you guys
use. We have to make the illegals legal so as to stop all the 'illegality' of their being here. If you want to stop 'illegality',
then enforce the laws as written now! The 'illegality' will stop when the illegals go home! If we were to apply this reasoning
to any other criminal type you would see the absurdity.
Because there are so many child molesters out there molesting children, we have a problem with the 'illegality' , so
lets create the Comprehensive Illegality Reform Act whereby if a child molester who is currently molesting children will apologize
and promise to stop molesting children in the next 18 years or so then we will no longer refer to Child Molestation as being
illegal! Thereby our problem with Child Molestation is over because now it is no longer illegal!
This is exactly why sir, that you, McCain, and others that supported this bill need to lose re-election. And along with
myself, we have other patriots who will do all we can to make sure that you never step foot into the Senate building once
your term is over. In a phrase you will hear for the next two years, GO HOME MEL!
