There are 3 legal ways to get my name on the Ballot as the opposition to Mel Martinez and the Republican
party. I will put them in my personal order of preference.
1. I need to have a percentage of registered Florida voters (about 250,000) print out and sign the
petition linked to below, I am still working out the details as to the timing so don't print, date or sign as of yet, but
here are the rules to the process:
a. The voter must be registered in the state of Florida, and must fill out their card exactly as their name
appears on their voter's id card, if your middle initial is on card, must fill out petition that way, if you have Jr., Sr.
etc after your last name, it must be filled out that way. It must be signed the same way, or
THE PETITION WILL BE THROWN OUT!
b. the petitions must be collected within the district area that the voter is registered and delivered to
said district registrars' office before the deadline. (This rule may change to force the petitions to be sent to Tallahassee
so we aren't mailing anything yet!) If the petition is from a voter who has moved out of his district, he/she must reregister
or send the petition to his/her previous district office. or
THE PETITION WILL BE THROWN OUT!
c. As of now, all of this must be done in the first 11 weeks of 2010, I am investigating alternatives to
this as this would mean with close to 250,000 signatures needed, I would need 22,728 signatures per week.
(Just a note - Why do I prefer this method? Because one, I honestly believe that if I can't find 250,000
ticked off Republicans then this whole effort is for nothing. I believe that many more than that exist. Two, this is
the way grass roots movements work, I can only reach so many people with my message here in Central Florida, but someone who
knows someone can reach them for me in Miami, Jacksonville, and more. And finally three, this method involves no money at
all.)
here is the link
and please remember that they will WANT to throw out these petitions, so please make double sure that
all info is correct as it is on your voter's ID card.
2. The Second way to get my name on the ballot for 2010 is through what they call the Qualification Fee.
It's about $10,000. It's a percentage of the salary of the Senator's position. I don't want to use this method but if I have
to I would sincerly prefer that we be able to find 10,000 ticked off Republicans who will not only sign that petition, but
also will send the $1.50 through the paypal link on the support Go Home Mel page.
3. This is not a real good option, but if I get to January of 2010 and do not have the signatures or money
raised, then the last option is to put my name in as a write-in candidate. The viability of this hinges on whether I can get
my message out to the four corners of Florida. If the ticked off Republicans know to write my name in instead of voting for
the liberal Democrat instead, then it is possible we could send Mel home permanently. That is the message that needs to be
sent to Washington, "keep ignoring us, and you WILL PAY!"
