Samael Aun Weor is the contemporary founder of the Gnostic
movement in the 20th century. Gnosis, a practical and timeless knowledge,
teaches the direct path to self-realization.
HIS LIFE: Samael Aun Weor left us this
complete practical wisdom in over 70 works that he authored and in over
500 cassette lectures given in his lifetime. Born in Santa Marta, Columbia
in 1916, he moved to Mexico in the 1950's, and continued his life's work
there--that of achieving self-realization while also tirelessly disseminating
the Gnostic teachings. Having been born awake, he knew his life's mission.
However, as he himself states in his writings, he had much work to complete
on himself. He achieved the philosopher's stone, the magnum opus, in his
lifetime and left us a complete map of the path that leads to such an acquisition.
HIS WORKS: His writings reveal a profound inner knowledge, knowledge that
could only be obtained from profound meditation and work on oneself. He
is called the "Master of Synthesis" for his works embrace techniques
and concepts of both Eastern and Western traditions. His works reveal an
Eastern grasp and familiarity of the concepts of rebirth, karma, reincarnation,
meditation to silence the mind and experience reality, (to name a few topics).
However, they also reveal an equally thorough grasp and familiarity with
esoteric Christianity and Western science. His works and lectures, at all
times, encompass both concepts as well as practical techniques.
HIS MISSION:
Samael Aun Weor always emphasized and taught
practical Gnosticism - the Gnosis. As the definition of Gnosis states, it
is the knowledge of the heart obtained only by direct experience. His works include treatises on Gnostic esoteric psychology,
alchemy, tarot and kabbalah, cosmology, cultural anthropology, elemental
therapy (healing with nature spirits), runic mysteries, dream yoga, astral
travel, the Tibetan rites of rejuventation, the silence of the mind and
experiencing reality in meditation, psychoanalytical meditation, esoteric
astrology, mysteries of life and death, the education of the child, etc.,
all of which have an underlying and urgent call to action, to change, and
work on oneself.
This change which in essence constitutes awakening from our deep sleep is
carried out through revolution, a revolution against the tyranny of ego,
against the hold that ego's fascination has on us. This change occurrs by
putting into practice the three factors for the Revolution of Consciousness,
factors that he mentions in every work that he authored.
THE THREE FACTORS: The three factors needed to awaken consciousness,
the three factors which are necessary to achieve self realization, are
Death : the elimination of ego (Buddhist annihilation),
Thus, he wrote,because he had traversed the path himself.
He knew the pitfalls and achievements possible and was able to guide us
from his present life experiences, and achievements, and from his recall
of his past lives in Tibet and China etc. The essence of wisdom is, then,
contained in his teachings.
Samael Aun Weor left us in December 1977. However, his teachings live on
throughout the world as thousands of Gnostic students continue to teach
this knowledge. While he himself taught, he never charged for such knowledge
and it was his wish that the teachings continue to be disseminated in this
manner.
