The next car I received was a 1975 Chevy Monza. My uncle bought the car brand new and had it until the beginning of 83. I started high school and he brought the car to me from Reno, NV. I never mentioned my intentions for this car and kept it stock for quite a long time. It was the 2.3 litre 2bbl engine with a T-50 5 speed trans. 3.42 gearing was factory. No power steering or power brakes. I got the car with around 80,000 miles and within a month or so, the timing belt broke. Fixed that up and kept driving it.

In 94, when I started tearing my other Monza apart, I dropped all the V8 parts into this car. I found a V8 Monza bellhousing after months of searching and kept the factory T-50 5-speed and I had the driveshaft shortened for the V8 combo. After running that for a while, I got ahold of an 88 700-R4 and built that up for street use. I used the factory trans crossmember with a little modification. For a while, I used the factory exhaust system with only the cat and no muffler. It had a bit of a deep tone to it, but with some 3.2 litre tags on the car, it was VERY deceiving. This car ran a best of 13.28@104 with this combo. The 5-speed was more fun to drive though.
