Her next car had been sitting on some property in the same spot for about 13 years. The poor thing had white "wagon wheels" on the right side. I talked to some other people who tried to buy it before we did. They said the guy wanted arount $1200 and wouldn't budge on the price. We stopped by one day and got the phone number off the sign in the windshield and called. The guy met us there in an hour and $300 later, we had this 72 Cutlass hardtop. When talking to the owner, we found out the original wheels were in the trunk to keep them from getting stolen. I found the build sheet under the back seat. The original 350/4bbl got a full tune up and fresh gas in the tank. New springs and control arm bushings set the ride heighth back up where it was supposed to be (looked like there were a bunch of dead bodies in the trunk), fresh radiator and a carb overhaul. Ran really well but started to smoke the more we drove it. Her brother later traded us a set of Champ 500 copy wheels for a set of bucket seats out of one of my Monza parts cars.

After a couple years, a friend of mine had his HO307 in his 83 HurstOlds rebuilt with a bigger cam and some head work. It wasn't fast enough for him so the machine shop set out to build him a "killer" Olds 350. He sold my wife that 307 and we dropped it into the 72. After a couple months of that, I built her a 200-4R with my old D5 converter from my GN. I then got ahold of a 3.23 geared T/A posi rear for $100. I installed the posi and gears and left the bolt in axles of the 72 in there. Then I painted the stripes on the hood. That car was really coming together when we had to sell it to start getting money together to buy a house. I sure do miss that car.
