BRUGGE, BELGIUM

I'm sitting on a walkway of steep steps, ten feet
away from a huge windmill, a dog named Fifi is walking along the grass
mound while a canal swerves silently by the side. There are 2 dozen trees
of light branches and baby leaves swaying back and forth, a couple is nestled
on the grass cuddling while 2 moms are watching their children play with
a red soccer ball. A huge courtyard is to the left with another dozen trees
and a grassy lawn with patches of white and yellow clover speckling the
green. Cars are driving by slowly, making that bumpy sound that only a
cobblestone street can make This is one picturesque city, alleyways reminiscent
of Venice, boats gliding down canals of water, trees lining almost every
street in their fresh green leaves and glorious building after glorious
building from the 13th century comes into view with each passing step.
The best parts were simply walking the streets,
seeing the old buildings, the pretty canals. There was a beautiful section
called the Lake of Love, with swans resting on the nearby knoll - truly
splendid. I walked all around it, capturing a glimpse of the Minnewater
park through the trees until I rested by the lake while I slowly ate a
mushroom omelette and fries. The fries here are served in a silver dish
that you toss like a salad with a fork and spoon to capture all the salt.
Belgian waffles, french fries and belgian chocolate!!! This place knows
how to eat!!!
