The Monkees Christmas Journey
By: Lisa and Mickys411 Rated G
It was a few days before Christmas, which meant it was also getting close to the end of the month. That meant the Monkees'
landlord Mr. Babbit would be coming around for a not-so-pleasant visit pretty soon. With that thought in mind, Mike was
scanning the want ads in the paper. Peter was tuning his guitar while Davy and Micky were polishing Micky's drum kit. "Hey
guys, I think I found something." Mike announced. "What is it?" Peter asked, putting his guitar down and joining his friend. "Four
men needed to perform at the Malibu Christmas pageant," Mike read, "No experience needed. Apply at the civic center." "What
does that mean, 'no experience needed'?" Davy asked, puzzled. "I don't know, but it's a possible job, so let's go." Mike
said. So the Monkees locked up, got into the Monkeemobile and went over to the civic center.
A few minutes later,
the guys arrived and went into the manager's office. The manager turned out to be a middle-aged woman with her hair tied back.
She gave a big smile when Mike told her they had come to respond to the ad. "Oh that's wonderful!" She exclaimed, getting
out of her seat and coming out from around her desk. She then proceeded to walk around the guys, looking up and down at
them, as if sizing them up. The Monkees looked at each other, but didn't say a word. Finally the manager spoke. "I think
you four will be perfect!" She said, "You're hired!" "That's great!" Micky smiled, "Where will we perform?" "In the
main auditorium." The manager replied, sitting back down behind her desk, "I want you four to go see Mrs. Bell, the lady in
charge of costumes." "Costumes?" Peter asked, "You mean Santa outfits?" "Heavens no!" The manger exclaimed, "I mean
costumes for the roles you're going to play." "What roles?" Davy asked this time. "Why, the three wise men and Joseph,
that's who." The manager replied. "But I thought you were looking for a band, y'know, a musical group?" Mike put in. "No,
I'm sorry if that's the impression you boys had, but I need men to fill those roles." The manager said. "Sorry ma'am, but
we're musicians," Micky said dramatically, we can't give up years of study to..." "I'll give you ten dollars apiece to
perform." The manager interrupted. "However, if the price is right..." Micky said, looking at the others. "You got yourself
three wise men and a Joseph." Mike said.
The Monkees headed back stage of the center, where the dressing rooms were located. The guys entered one of the rooms and
found several costumes on a clothes rack. The guys then changed into the costumes. "You know, my costume fits perfect,"
said Davy. "Same here," said Peter. The only thing Mike didn't like about his costume was that his fake beard was itchy
and Micky had some trouble getting his hat over his head of curly hair.
After the guys finally got their costumes figured out, they were led over to the stage where other actors were gathered. The
next few hours were spent rehearsing the show. It started out with "Mary" and "Joseph" (Mike) traveling to Bethlehem, only
to find no room at the inn. There wasn't much dialogue for them to learn. Someone from off-stage read from the bible while
they acted out what was said. Micky, Peter and Davy spent most of their time off-stage waiting for their turn. "You're
on!" The stage manager whispered to them. So the three Monkees, pulling their fake camels, walked onto the stage and knelt
before the holy family and opened their gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh. Afterwards, everyone took a bow and left
the stage. "Wonderful job, everyone!" The manager told them, "Be here at 7 sharp Christmas Eve!"
Back at the pad,
the guys took off their costumes and sat down in the living room. "That job wasn't exactly what I expected." Mike said.
"I felt kinda silly pulling a fake camel." Micky put in. "What's Myrrh anyway?" "At least we're gonna get 40 dollars
out of this." Peter said brightly. "But that'll put just a small dent in what we owe Babbit, Peter." Davy answered. "I
wonder if this is going to be worth it." With that thought, the guys went to bed.
Soon it was Christmas Eve and
the Monkees put on their costumes for the pageant. Micky was still trying to get his hat over his curly hair. With help from
Davy, Micky was finally able to get everything under control. As Mike drove down the highway toward the civic center, he
turned on the radio. "We three Kings of Orient are," Went the choir, "Bearing gifts we traverse afar, Field and fountain,
moor and mountain, following yonder star..." "Ohhhh...star of wonder star of night," Peter began to sing, "Star with royal
beauty bright, westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to thy Perfect Light." Before the song continued, it began
to rain and storm. "The weatherman didn't say it would rain tonight." Micky said. The weather got so bad; Mike had to
pull the Monkeemobile over. "Great, I hope we're not gonna be late." Mike complained. Peter then looked closely at the
windows. "Hey, that's not rain, that's sand!" He exclaimed. The others looked too and found it was sand blowing against
the car, not rain. "We're caught in a sandstorm?" Micky asked. "We're too far from the beach." As quick as it had come,
the storm passed, and Mike tried to start the car again, but it wouldn't start! "Oh no, I'll bet sand got into the engine."
Mike huffed, "It'll take hours to clean it out." "Mike look up." Peter said seriously. Mike looked out the front windshield
to find nothing but sand around them. There wasn't a building in sight. "What's going on?" Davy asked, getting out of the
car...only to sink to his knees in sand. "I don't think we're in Malibu anymore." Micky said. "So, where are we anyway?"
asked Davy. "I'm not sure," said Mike. "Just then, Peter spotted something in the distance. "Hey, I think I see something
coming up our way," he said. "Groovy, whoever is coming this way can maybe tell us where we are and how to get out of here,"
said Micky. When the objects got closer, they saw that the objects were the men, riding on camels. "Wow, look at those
guys." Micky said in awe, "They sure are dressed fancy." "They must be actors for the Christmas pageant too." Mike said. "But
I thought we were supposed to be the three wise men." Peter put in. The three men wore elaborate robes and turbans and
handled their camels like experts. Behind one of the camels were two donkeys that carried their luggage. "Maybe they're
on their way to the pageant and can give us a lift." Mike remarked as he walked over to them. The three men stopped as
they saw Mike and the other Monkees walk over to them. Despite their regal appearance, the men smiled in welcome. "Greetings,
gentlemen." The lead man said. He was an older man with white hair and a long beard. "Do you need help?" "Yes we do." Mike
replied, "We got stuck in this sandstorm and our car won't start, can you take us to the Malibu Civic Center?" The three
men on camels looked at each other in puzzlement. "I do not know what this 'civic center' is, young man, or 'Malibu'."
The man replied, "We are following yonder star that heralds the birth of the newborn king of the Jews." The man pointed
up to show the Monkees a bright star in the heavens that seemed to be moving ever so slowly. "You're following that star?"
Micky asked. "Yes, we are." Another of the men answered. He was younger than the other two men and was beardless with a
ruddy complexion. "We saw the star at its rising and have been following it for many days." "Boy these guys are really
into character." Peter whispered to the other Monkees. "Well, ok." Mike said, backing away, "We'll just walk then." He
turned around to see that the Monkeemobile was completely covered in sand. "Oh no, the car!" Davy exclaimed. "What is
a car?" The third man asked. He was darker skin than the other two men and had a heavy beard. "Was that your transportation?" "Yeah,
it was." Micky replied. "Now we'll never get to the center on time." "Why don't you men come with us?" The first man asked
kindly, "It is not safe to travel out here alone. At least stay with us until we get to Jerusalem." "Jerusalem?" The Monkees
exclaimed. "Yes, that is the nearest large city in Judea." The second man replied. "Man, we're really not in Malibu."
Micky whispered, "Or even our own time." "Sure, we'll come with you." Davy told the men and nodded at his friends. "Very
good! Climb aboard our animals!" The third man said. So the Monkees climbed onto the donkeys. Mike and Micky on one, and
Peter and Davy on another. They traveled for awhile then stopped to rest for the night. When the tents were pitched, everyone
sat around the fire. Mike introduced himself and the other Monkees. "We are glad to meet you." The man with the long white
beard replied. "My name is Melchior, and this is Gaspur," He indicated the man without the beard, "And this is Baltasar,"
which was the dark-skinned man. Peter thought about what Melchior had said, "Are you kings?" He asked. Baltasar chuckled,
"No young man, we are astrologers from the far east." It was then the Monkees realized they were with the three kings from
the New Testament...on their way to see the baby Jesus.
The Monkees awoke the next morning to the rising of the sun. The guys looked to see their new friends cooking something
over a fire. The wise men turned to the Monkees. "Morning gentlemen," said Baltasar. "You're just in time for breakfast,"
said Gaspur. "What are we having?" asked Peter. "Tea and free ranged hen eggs," Melchior answered. The seven of them
sat around the fire and enjoyed the meal. "That was a great meal," said Davy. "Yes, thank you," said Mike. "You're
welcome gentlemen," said Gaspur. "How much traveling do we have left?" asked Micky. "Not too far," said Baltasar. After
eating, the men packed up camp and set off once again on their journey.
The day quickly grew hot. So hot in fact, the glue holding Mike's fake beard melted away and his beard fell off, causing
some mild amusement among the three Magi. Baltasar gave Micky a better-fitting turban to wear which made him more comfortable. Around
noon, the group came upon a small oasis. There, they watered the animals and got water for themselves. After a lunch of tea
and dates, everyone settled down for a rest. "What will you do when you meet the new-born king?" Mike asked the Magi. "We
will give him gifts." Melchior said simply. "I am giving him some gold. All kings love gold." "I'm going to give him Frankincense."
Gaspur added, "It's incense that is very rare." "I will give him Myrrh." Baltasar finished. "What is Myrrh?" Micky asked
him. "It is a perfume," Baltasar replied, "Sometimes used in embalming, but it has other uses as well." After the heat
of midday has passed, everyone got on their animals and continued to Jerusalem. The star was still visible even in the daytime,
leading the group ever westward.
Toward evening, the group of travelers found the main road to Jerusalem. Not longer afterward, the city came into view.
It was quite large, with a thick wall surrounding it on all sides. The star was still leading them forward as ever. "What
are you going to do in Jerusalem, Melchior?" Micky asked. "We are going to King Herod and ask what he knows about the newborn
King of the Jews." Melchior replied. "Do you really have to do that?" Mike asked. "We must pay our respects to the
local rulers." Gaspur said. "I've heard that Herod is not a very nice man." Peter told him. "We will not be there long."
Baltasar said, urging his camel forward. Soon the group was approaching one of the city gates. Two guards were standing
there, watching the traffic coming and going. They motioned for the group to halt. "What business do you have here?" The
first guard asked gruffly. "We want to see King Herod." Baltasar told him. "Why would the king want to see you?" The
second guard asked with a smirk. "We want to know where is the King of the Jews who has just been born." Gaspur answered. "What
King of the Jews?" The first guard asked. "We saw his star in the east and we have come to worship him." Melchior said,
pointing up at the star. The guards looked up at the star and then at each other, clearly disturbed by this news. Finally
the second guard spoke. "I'll take you over to the palace. You can tell your tale there." "Thank you." Gaspur said. So
the guard led the group over to the palace. He spoke to the guards at the palace gate and then went back to his post. It
didn't take long for King Herod to hear of what was going on. He was clearly worried about this development, and thought this
might be a potential threat to his throne. While the three Magi and the Monkees waited in an antechamber, the King summoned
the religious leaders of the city and asked them about this newborn king. One teacher stood up and said to him, "He is
to be born in Bethlehem of Judea. It is written, "You, Bethlehem of Judah, are not the least of the leaders of Judah. Out
of you will come a King who will lead my people Israel." Herod then dismissed the religious leaders and sent for the Magi.
The Monkees waited for the Magi with heavy hearts. They tried to tell them that Herod was evil, but the Magi did not listen. After
a long time, the three magi came out and they were smiling. "What did the king say?" Davy asked. "He said he heard the
child was born in Bethlehem." Gaspur replied, "And he told us to find him and report back so he could worship the babe also." The
Monkees looked at each other, but said nothing. The group left the palace and stayed at an inn that night.
The next morning, the group saddled up and left for Bethlehem, the star still traveling westward. During the trip, the
Monkees noticed that the camels were beginning to get a bit run down. Melchior took a look at the animals and said, “It’s
been quite sometime since they had water. We should find them some." Luckily Gaspur found a pond in the distance. The gang
then headed straight for it, where not only did they get water for the camels, but for themselves as well. Once they got
all the water they needed, the troop once again started their long journey. As they continued to Bethlehem, Gaspur turned
to the Monkees. "It is nice of you to accompany us to the end of our journey." He said, "You could've stayed in Jerusalem
where it would be safe." "Well, we're curious to see the baby too." Davy replied. "He must be pretty special to have its
own star." "Hey fellas." Mike said quietly to the other Monkees, "What are we gonna give Baby Jesus?" "That's a good
question, Mike." Micky whispered back, "We pretty much have only our costumes and what's in our pockets." Peter looked
in his pocket. "I have a guitar pick and a ball and jacks." "Ball and jacks?" Davy asked. "You never know if someone
wants to start a game up." Peter replied, a little defensively. The other Monkees looked in their pockets to see what they
could give, but they didn't have very much. "The star seems to have stopped!" Melchior exclaimed suddenly. "And it
looks like it's staying over that town ahead." Baltasar added. "According to this map I bought in Jerusalem," Gaspur said,
looking a look at a scroll, "That is indeed Bethlehem." "Let us go." Melchior said, urging his camel on, "Our journey is
almost at an end." So the three Magi and the Monkees rode into the little town of Bethlehem.
It was starting to become dusk, so the star above was a little easier to see. As the Magi and the Monkees rode further
into the city, it seemed to get even brighter than before. Not many people were about, most heading inside as the day
drew to a close. A few people stopped to look at the little caravan as it was unusual to have anybody of means coming into
their town. Melchior signaled for everyone to halt. "What do we do now, Melchior?" Gaspur asked, "The child could be in
any of these homes." "Perhaps the star will tell us." Melchior replied, pointing up. As it grew even darker, one section
of town seemed to be filled with light from the star. "Over there." Baltasar said, gently urging his camel forward. The
group went to that part of town, which seemed to be deserted. One small house, slightly apart from the others, practically
glowed. The three Magi nodded to each other and dismounted from their camels. The Monkees got off their donkeys and held
the reins for them. After removing small chests from their camels' sacks, the Magi walked over to the house and Melchior
knocked on the door. The Monkees followed them, staying back slightly. After a moment, the door opened slightly and a man
looked out at them. "May I help you?" The man asked gently, looking surprised at the finery the men wore. "We have come
to pay homage to your newborn son." Gaspur said. The man looked back inside the house, then at the group outside his door. "Please,
come in." He said, opening the door wider.
The three Magi went inside the house and instantly saw the baby sleeping in the arms of his mother. As one, they fell to
their knees and bowed to the ground. The baby's mother and father looked at each other, not knowing what to make of this.
The Monkees stood inside the door, looking on in awe at the baby Jesus. "Who are you gentlemen?" The father asked. "My
name is Melchior." Melchior replied as he straightened up, "And this is Gaspur and Baltasar." "My name is Joseph." Joseph
said, "This is my wife Mary and our son Jesus. Why have you come here?" "We saw a star rising in the east many days ago
and realized it heralded the birth of a king." Gaspur replied, "So we followed the star's path across the sky and it led us
here." The Magi then opened up their chests and one by one placed them in front of Mary and Jesus, then bowed down in worship
once again. "You say my son is to be a king?" Mary asked the magi. "Yes, the star in the heavens proves that." Baltasar
replied. "Many days ago, when Mary had just given birth, several shepherds came to the stable where we were staying and
said angels told them about our son." Joseph remarked. "Truly, this child is special." Gaspur replied. Joseph then looked
to see the Monkees standing in the doorway. "Please, come inside." He said, "What are your names?" "I'm Michael." Mike
swallowed, "And this is Micky, Peter and David, sir. We're just travelers who came along to see the baby too." "Can we
come closer?" Peter asked. "Of course." Mary smiled. The Monkees came over and knelt down before Mary and the baby Jesus,
who was still sleeping soundly.
"Thank you very much for the gifts." Joseph said to the magi. "We have never seen such wealth before." "You are welcome."
Melchior replied, "May these gifts start your child off properly in life." The Monkees looked at each other, still sad
that they didn't have anything to give to the baby Jesus. Then Micky smiled and whispered something to Mike, who whispered
it to Davy, who whispered it to Peter, who then pouted when he had no one to whisper it to. The Monkees began to sing: The
first Noel the angel did say was to certain poor Shepards in fields as they lay: in fields where they lay a-keeping
their sheep on a cold winter's night that was so deep. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.
They
looked up and saw a star, shining in the east, beyond them far: and to the earth it gave great light, and so it continued
both day and night. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.
And by the light of that same star three
wise men came from the country far; to seek for a King was their intent, and to follow the star wherever it went. Noel,
Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.
This star drew nigh to the north-west; o'er Bethlehem it took its
rest, and there it did both stop and stay, right over the place where Jesus lay. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born
is the King of Israel.
Then entered in those wise men three, fell reverently upon their knee, and offered there
in his presence their gold and myrrh and frankincense. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the kind of Israel.
Then
let us all with one accord sing praises to our heavenly Lord, that hath made heaven and earth of naught, and with
his blood mankind has bought. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.
Everyone smiled after the
Monkees had finished. "That was very nice." Gaspur said. "Would you like to hear another?" Davy asked. Everyone nodded
yes and the Monkees sang in four-part harmony: Silent night! Holy night! All is calm, all is bright round yon
virgin mother and child, Holy infant so tender and mild, sleep in Heavenly peace! Sleep in Heavenly peace!
Silent
night! Holy night! Shepherds quake at the sight; glories stream from Heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia, Christ,
the Savior, is born! Christ, the Savior, is born!
Silent night! Holy night! Son of God, Love's pure light radiant
beams from Thy Holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord at Thy birth, Jesus, Lord at Thy birth.
When
the Monkees had finished, baby Jesus woke up and smiled at the magi and at the Monkees. Then he yawned and went back to sleep.
After a few minutes of small talk, Baltasar stood up. "I think it is time to go." He said to the others, "Our journey
has come to a successful end." "You may spend the night here if you wish." Mary said. "Thank you Lady, but we do not
wish to impose on you." Gaspur replied, "We shall camp outside the town." "Goodnight and to you all." Joseph said, "And
please have a safe journey back to your own countries." "Thank you and may the Lord bless you always." Melchior replied. The
group left the house and soon were outside the city. There they made camp, and the Magi were soon asleep. The Monkees however
stayed up for hours talking about what they had seen, unable to believe their good fortune.
The next morning, the Monkees
awoke to see the Magi once again making breakfast. "Good morning." Micky told the magi. "Good morning." Baltasar replied
quietly. "Did you four sleep well?" "Yes we did." Peter replied, "Did you?" The Magi looked at each other and seemed
rather subdued and disturbed. "What's wrong, Melchior?" Mike asked. "Last night the three of us had a dream, the same
dream." Melchior replied. "About what?" Mike asked. "An angel appeared to us and warned us that King Herod was evil
and not to return to him." Gaspur said, "We are afraid we've led Herod right to the baby." "Is there another way we can
go back and avoid Herod?" Davy asked. "Yes, and after we are done eating, that's what we will do." Baltasar said firmly. So
after breakfast, the group quickly packed up and started back to Magis’ homelands via another route. They also noticed
that the star that had led them to Jesus had vanished.
The group traveled as fast as the camels and donkeys would take them. Every so often, they would stop to look and see if
they were being followed. Fortunately, they spotted no one. After two days travel, they camped outside the city of Hebron,
well south of Bethlehem and Jerusalem. "We have some traveling to do before we leave Judea." Baltasar said, as he and the
other Magi looked at his map, "This is the longer way we are taking, but it will be harder for Herod to find us." "Once
we go around the southern tip of the Salt Sea, we should be safe." Melchior nodded. During the evening meal, Gaspur asked
the Monkees what they planned to do now. "We really don't know." Mike admitted, shrugging his shoulders, "Everything we
had was lost in that sandstorm and we're far from home." "Then you can come back home with us." Melchior said, "You four
are good men and we will help you out." "Thank you, Melchior." Davy smiled, "We really appreciate that."
Later that
night, the wind began to blow, waking everybody up. The Monkees huddled together in their small tent as the sandstorm approached,
while the Magi gathered together in their own tent. The storm hit quickly, pushing against the sides of the tent. The Monkees
hoped the magi were okay as the wind howled and sand blew into their tent. Suddenly, the wind blew their tent down, covering
the Monkees in the fabric. They struggled to get loose, when just as suddenly, the wind stopped... and they found themselves
sitting in the Monkeemobile once again! "What's going on?" Peter cried out. "We're back home!" Micky exclaimed, getting
out of the car. Sure enough, they were home! The storm had passed and all was clear. Mike tried the engine and it came
to life instantly. "Get in, Micky!" Mike ordered, "We gotta get to the pageant!" Micky looked at the luminous hands
on his watch. "Gosh, we better get going!" He said, jumping inside. Mike hit the gas and the Monkeemobile went sailing
down the highway. "That little time trip has certainly taught me to appreciate Christmas a lot more." Davy said to his
friends. "What an experience." Micky said, "Too bad nobody would believe us if we told them." "Yeah, and I'll never
take cars for granted again." Peter replied. Everybody laughed as they went to the civic center.
The Monkees made
it with just minutes to spare. The stage manager was very glad to see them. "You boys look fine," She said, "But next time,
leave the sand at the beach, ok?" The Monkees looked at their clothes to see that they were full of sand.
The pageant
went off without a hitch. Mike and the girl who played Mary did their parts and sat inside a cardboard stable. Peter, Micky
and Davy pulled their fake camels over to them, and then knelt down and offered their gifts. "Actually the three kings
met the baby Jesus in a house." Mike told the girl playing Mary. "Shh!" The stage manager hissed. Finally, the pageant
was over and everyone took their bows to great applause.
Backstage, the manager handed the guys ten dollars apiece,
plus some of the money the center had collected in donations. Now they had just enough to pay the rent. The Monkees spent
Christmas with a better appreciation of the great gift God had sent to Earth...his son Jesus.
The End
"Snow Monkees"
By: Mickys411 and Lisa Rated G
It had been sometime since the Monkees had performed a gig, and they just got
an earful from their landlord Mr. Babbit this particular day, who told them that if they don't get the money to pay their
up-coming rent, he was going to kick them out of the pad. "What are we going to do?" Davy asked. "I'm not sure fellas,
but we have to think of something soon, otherwise Babbit is going to kick us out," said Mike. "Maybe we will get a call
for a gig today," said Peter. "Come on Peter, we just can't sit around all day and wait for the phone to ring," said Micky. Just
then, the phone rang. "See?" said Peter. "You don't know if it's for a gig," said Davy. "Yeah, it could be a telemarketer,"
said Micky. "While you guys argue who's calling us, I'm going to answer the phone," said Mike. He answered the phone
and talked for a few moments, then hung up. "Well, who was it?" said Davy. "It was for a gig," Mike answered. "Groovy
we got a job!" said Micky. "Where are we playing?" asked Peter. "A ski lodge in Northern Ca," Mike answered. "That's
great, but we don't know how to ski," said Davy. "The job is 150 for 5 nights plus 50 dollars more for the weekend," said
Mike. "However if the price is right…" said Micky. "Maybe we can learn to ski,” said Peter, “It will
give us something to do to kill time between shows."
And the guys then decided to learn how to ski. The problem was, none one of them knew how to ski, so they decided to teach
each other. Plus to top it off, there was no snow in southern California, so they had to practice on the beach sands.
The next day, the guys went to the local sporting goods store and each of them bought a pair of skis, then they went the
beach and began their lessons. The first lesson was going down a hill, so they practiced onto on the beach. Thankfully
the Monkees also got a book about skiing, so that came in handy. The guys read over a few of the books tips, and then tried
the first trick out. Mike did very well for his first try, as did Davy and Micky. Peter however, wasn’t as lucky
as he forgot how to do a turn stop and fell into the ocean.
After another few days of practicing their skiing, the Monkees then packed for their trip. "It'll be cold up there,
so pack warm clothes." Mike told the others. They didn't have many warm clothes, as they lived in a hot climate, but managed
to find enough stuff to keep them warm in the snow. Micky checked out the Monkeemobile to make sure it could handle the
cold weather. He added some antifreeze and tried the heater. After all that, the guys packed up and headed north on their
way to the gig.
It took a few hours of driving, but the Monkees made it up to the ski lodge. Since it was the middle of the week, so
the parking lot wasn't crowded. The guys parked the car, got out and entered the lodge. They checked in then settled
into their room, which had four single beds and a window that had a view of the snow covered mountains. The long drive
to the lodge made the guys hungry, so they grabbed a bite to eat to the dinning hall, and then went outside to check out the
snowy grounds. Since they were a bit tired from the ride up and that they had a show later, the Monkees decided to save
skiing until tomorrow. But that didn't stop them from having a snowball fight. The guys stopped however, when they saw
a group of young girls, who looked about their ages laughing. The Monkees then had embarrassing looks on their faces. The
girls then approached the Monkees. "You guys look like you're having fun." said one blonde girl. "Is this you're first
time here, because we never seen you before?" asked a brunette. "It is our first time here," Peter answered. "We're
here do play a gig for a few nights," said Davy. "Yeah, we're a rock band," said Micky. "Groovy," said another brunette. "What
do you call yourselves?" asked another blonde. "Our group is called the Monkees," Mike answered. "That's a cool name
for a group. "By the way, I'm Nicole." "Nice to meet you Nicole, I'm Mike." The first blonde the told her name,"
I'm Holly." "That's a pretty name, mine is Davy," said Davy. "I'm Lena and it's nice to meet you," said one of the brunettes. "It's
nice to meet you to Lena and My name is Peter," said Peter. "I'm Katherine, but everyone calls me Kat," said the other
brunette. "I'm George Michael, but everyone calls me Micky," said Micky. The Monkees and the girls then took a seat
over at one of the picnic tables and chatted. It turns out Lena and Kat are twins and they along with their friends Nicole
and Holly decided to have a few days of fun in the snow. Everyone decided to take advantage of the activities the lodge
has to offer. Mike and Nicole rented some snowmobiles and rode for a while, Davy and Holly took a ride on one of the horse-drawn
carriages, Micky and Kat went skating, while Peter and Lena built a few snowmen. After sometime of having fun in the snow,
everyone sat on the lodge's couch in the rec room and enjoyed sitting by the fire and sipping hot chocolate. "This has
been a great day," said Nicole. "I agree, the whole day was a lot of fun," said Lena. "It's just what we needed to forget
about our boyfriends," said Holly. The Monkees almost spit out their hot chocolate hearing that. "Or should we say ex-boyfriends,"
said Kat. "I'm so glad we didn't invite them with us, Kyle would had challenged everyone here to a ski contest by now,"
said Holly. "He's not as competitive as Duncan," said Nicole. "At least he doesn't show off like Ethan," said Kat. "But
he's not the type that pick on those that are weaker than him like Richie," said Lena. The Monkees looked at each other.
Their friends' ex-boyfriends sounded like trouble. It was a good thing they weren't around. Mike finished up his hot chocolate
and looked at his band mates, then at the girls. "We've had a lovely time today with you ladies." He said, "But we have
to rest up now. We're playing tonight in the main ballroom." "Oh great, we'll come watch you, ok?" Nicole said, putting
her hand on Mike's arm. "Sure, that'll be fine." Mike smiled. "We'll see you tonight." Micky said, also finishing his
hot chocolate. Peter and Davy finished their drinks too and said their goodbyes. They quickly went up to their room. "Guys,
I'm worried." Peter said as he sat down on his bed, "What if those ex-boyfriends show up?" "Relax, Peter." Davy said, sitting
down on his bed, "Why would they come up here? Kat said they're ex-boyfriends so they wouldn't follow the girls." "I hope
you're right, Davy." Mike said, "Those guys didn't sound very nice though." "Let's get some sleep," Micky said, stretching
out on his bed, "We've got a long night ahead of us." So the guys laid down on their beds and went to sleep.
That
night, the Monkees got ready to perform. Mike looked out through the stage curtain to see a large crowd gathering. "Looks
like a nice crowd." He said. Davy joined him. "Yeah...hey there's the girls!" He exclaimed. Sure enough, Lena, Kat,
Nicole and Holly were making their way towards the front to be close to the stage. "Are you ready, Monkees?" The manager
asked them as he walked over. "Sure, we're ready!" Davy said quickly, closing the curtain. Since Davy had closed the
curtain, he didn't see four young tough-looking men in crew cuts walking into the ballroom from the far door.
Just as they took their seats at a table, in front of the stage, they ordered some drinks. As the waitress who took their
orders left, the young men approached the girl's table. The girl's were surprise to see the men, as is was their ex-boyfriends. "Duncan!
what are you doing here?" asked Nicole to the young man who had black hair in a crew cut. "You go away and don't tell me?"
Duncan responded. "That's right, because we're through!" "And the same goes for us Kyle!" said Holly to the young man
who had the same hairstyle as his friend, but had blonde hair. "Come on babe, give me another chance," said Kyle. "No,
what you did to my little brother's bike was the last straw!" "It service him right not to leave his bike in the middle
of the driveway." The man with a brown haired crew cut started to laugh. "That wasn't funny Ethan," said Kat. "Kid's
a dweeb anyway," said Ethan. "And that's the exact attitude that made me break up with you." "My sister's right about
the way you guys act, especially you Richie!" Lena yelled at the young man with a red haired crew cut. "Me, what did I
do?" asked Richie. "You're always picking on those who are smaller and weaker than you." "Well, it's survival of the
fittest." Richie smirked. "We want you four to leave." Holly said. Before any of their ex-boyfriends could respond,
the manager came out from behind the curtain. "Ladies and Gentlemen!" He said into the mike, "Tonight I'm pleased to bring
you a new rock and roll act from sunny Malibu...THE MONKEES!" The crowd began to cheer, including Holly, Nicole, Kat and
Lena. Their exes saw that and promptly sat down at a table next to the girls, shoving the people already there out of their
seats. The curtain opened and the Monkees appeared, ready to perform. "Look at the long-haired weirdoes." Ethan laughed. "That
short one looks like a little kid." Richie added, pointing at Davy. "Here we come, walking down the street..." Micky sang,
"Getting the funniest looks from everyone we meet!" "Gee, I wonder why?" Duncan smirked. "That's enough, Duncan!" Nicole
told him. "Hey hey, we're the Monkees, and people say we Monkey around," The guys sang, "We're too busy singing, to put
anybody down." "They should try singing sometime." Kyle said. "Quiet, I want to hear the song." Holly said. "Why
are you two defending them?" Kyle demanded. "We just want to relax, Kyle." Holly answered. "I hope you four aren't getting
sweet on them." Ethan growled. "What if we were?" Kat shot back, "You and I are through and I meant it." Ethan stood
up and over Kat. "You'd like four long-haired nuts over us?" He shouted. "At least they treated us nice." Kat yelled back. The
Monkees now noticed what was going on and didn't like it. "Uh oh." Mike whispered to Peter, "I get the feeling that's the
ex-boyfriends." Just then, the people who Ethan, Kyle, Duncan and Richie had pushed out of their seats came back with a
couple of bouncers. "These are the men." One of the people said, "They threw us out of our seats." "We were just leaving."
Duncan said as he and the other men got up. Kyle looked at Holly. "This isn't over, especially with those Monkee boys." He
and the others glared at the Monkees, and then left the ballroom, the bouncers right behind them. The Monkees for their
part were relieved those four men were gone, but somehow knew that wouldn't be the last of them.
Once the girl's ex-boyfriends left, they went back to enjoying the show. During their break, the Monkees went to visit
their table. "Were those your ex-boyfriends?" Mike asked. "Unfortunately yes," Nicole answered. "That wasn't very
nice of them kicking those people from their table," said Peter. "That's nothing compare to how they normally act-up,"
said Lena. "Did you also see how they were built up to?" Davy asked his mates. "Basically all they do is eat, sleep,
workout, and bullying being their hobby," said Holly. "They look like they could snap a handful of pencils in half," said
Micky. "They all did once, and got detention for a week for each of them," said Kat. The Monkees gulped. "You don't
have to worry," said Lena. "Yeah, we told those jerks we're through," said Kat. "They left after our "chat" with them,"
said Holly. "Let's hope we don't have to see them again," said Nicole. "That's a relief on us," said Davy. "Sets
my mind at ease," said Peter. "You can say that again," said Micky. "Sets my mind at ease." "Still fellas, we should
keep our eyes open, just to be safe," said Mike. The Monkees then headed back stage, to get ready for the second part of
the show.
The Monkees continued with their show after the break. Fortunately, they didn't see their friends' exes around anywhere.
When the show was finished, the Monkees took a bow to great applause and cheering. Everyone, it seemed, loved the Monkees...except
Duncan and his friends, who were outside the ballroom and could hear the cheering. "Our girls like them?" Duncan asked
his friends. "With all that long hair and loud music?" "What are we gonna do about them?" Ethan asked. "We can't go back
in there." "We'll just have to wait until we see them all together." Duncan replied, "And then we'll show the girls that
they're better off with us." "They don't look too bright." Richie said, "Perhaps we'll be able to scare them away." "I
think I saw their ugly car in the parking lot, it had "The Monkees" written on it." Kyle said, "If they won't leave, their
car just might have an accident." The four men began to laugh and then waited for their chance to catch the Monkees and
their ex-girlfriends together.
Duncan, Richie, Ethan, and Kyle looked around to see if anyone was there, and then carefully poked their heads through
a window of the lodge. And sure enough, when they saw the Monkees sitting, talking and laughing with Kat, Lena, Holly and
Nicole, all four of their faces turned red hot. The gang of troublemakers then headed to the Monkeemobile.
Later
that night, The Monkees were in their room getting ready to call it a night. "Hey any of you guys seen my new sports jacket,
I'm wearing it tomorrow when Holly and I go skiing?" Davy asked. "I think you left it in the car," Mike answered. "I'll
go out to get it." "Do you mind if I come with you, I left the extra film for my camera in the backseat, Kat and I are
taking a hike in the mountains," said Micky. "Sure, but bring the flashlight, cuz it's dark out you know." "Careful,
it snowed a bit and it could be slippery," said Peter. "Thanks for the warning," said Davy as he and Micky left the room. "I
hope Lena's right and we don't have those bullies again," said Peter. "I know Nicole said we have nothing to worry about,
but we should keep our eyes out for anything," said Mike. Just then, Micky and Davy returned with not very happy looks
on their faces. "What's the matter with you guys?" asked Mike. "Yeah, you looked like you've seen something unpleasant,"
said Peter. "We just did," Davy answered. "Come see the car," said Micky. Peter and Mike followed their two friends
back outside.
The four Monkees went back out to their car...or what was left of it. All four tires had been slashed and there were several
dents in the fenders. One window had been smashed and Davy's coat and Micky's film were gone from inside. "Oh no, our car!"
Peter exclaimed, and he began to cry. "I'll bet those ex-boyfriends did this." Mike said, examining the broken window. "We
better call the police." Micky said, ushering his friends back inside.
The police arrived a little later and took pictures
of the smashed Monkeemobile. The guys then gave statements to the police and told them about the stolen items. "Do you
have any ideas on how could've done this?" An officer asked. "Yeah, but we have no proof." Davy said. "Looks like one
of the vandals left a fingerprint." Another officer said, looking at the smashed window. "I'll get the window dusted and take
a picture to see if the fingerprint matches anybody."
After the police had gone, the Monkees went back up to their
room. Mike then called the insurance company. There was nothing else to be done that night, so they tried to go to sleep.
That was hard to come by as the guys kept worrying about what Duncan, Richie, Ethan and Kyle might do next to them or to their
newfound friends.
After a sleepless night, the Monkees had breakfast at the dining hall, but none of them were that hungry, due to the fact
that not only were they tired from lack of sleep but were upset about the car. Just then, the girls approached their table. "Hey
you guys,” said Holly. "Hi girls," said Davy with a yawn. The girls saw the Monkees faces up close. "What's
wrong fellas?" asked Nicole. "We didn't sleep well last night," Mike answered. "How come?" asked Kat. "Someone did
damage to our car," Micky answered. "That's terrible," said Lena. "It sure is," said Lena. When the Monkees took
the girls outside to look at the car, they couldn't believe their eyes. "Oh my." said Lena. "I think I know who did
this," said Holly. "Me too," said Kat. "This has our ex-boyfriend's names written all over it," said Nicole. "We
kind of figured that out too," said Mike. "Not only did they damaged the car, but they stole items too," said Peter. "My
jacket was taken," said Davy. "And so was my extra film," said Micky. The girls then remembered a local auto shop in
town and suggested the Monkees to take the monkeemobile there. The guys then called a tow truck to pick the car up and within
minutes, a truck came and hauled the car to the auto shop. The girls gave the guys a ride to the shop, where they met up
with the repairman, who gave the Monkees bad news that it was going to cost a lot of money for the damage done to the car. "Just
great." Mike said as the Monkees and their friends rode back to the ski lodge, "It's gonna cost us what we make up here and
more." "We're really sorry about this." Holly said, "If we hadn't befriended you guys your car would still be okay." "Don't
apologize." Davy said, "You girls have the right to see who you want to." "We have to find a way to stop those bullies."
Peter said. Lena pulled the car into the lot and everyone sadly walked back into the lodge. Just as they entered into the
lobby, none other than the ex-boyfriends were waiting for them. "Well, well well, what do we have here?" Duncan asked his
friends. "What are you guys still doing here?" asked Nicole. "We thought maybe by now you came to your senses, dumped
those long haired freaks and came back to us," said Kyle. "Never," said Holly. "But we got strength and muscle," said
Richie. "Yeah, what do these jokers have that we don't?" asked Ethan. "Well, for one thing, these guys are nice to us,"
Lena answered. "Yeah, all you guys ever do is show off," said Kat. "By the way, we saw your car in the parking lot earlier,"
said Richie. "Sorry about what happened," said Ethan. "That's very nice of you to say that," said Peter. "Yeah, we
thought it looked bad then," said Kyle. "Now it looks even worse," said Duncan as he and his friends began to laugh. The
Monkees were about to say something, but the girls told them to be the bigger person and just walked away. "I really know
it was them who did the damage," said Mike. "I know, but there's still no proof," said Davy. "Let's hope the police
will get back to us soon," said Micky. Duncan, Kyle, Ethan and Ritchie stood there in shock as they watched their girls
and the Monkees walk away. "I don't believe this." Ritchie snarled. "What?" Duncan asked. "They walked away from
us." "Yeah, who do they think they are?" Ethan put in. "Walking away with our girls." "Let's get 'em." Ritchie said. "No,
if we fight them and beat them, the girls might sympathize with those weirdoes." Kyle said, holding Ritchie back, "We gotta
show the girls how pathetic they are." "Yeah, I'll bet they can't even ski." Ethan laughed. "So...let's invite them
to a ski competition." Kyle said.
Later that evening, as the guys were preparing to rehearse, the ex-boyfriends came
over to the stage. Just the girls were with them just then. "Hey Monkee boys." Kyle said, stopping in front of them. "What
do you want, Kyle?" Mike said. "We got a proposition for you." Ethan said. "What do you mean?" Micky asked. "You
boys want our girls, well, how about a friendly competition for them? Say...a ski competition?" He said, "If you win, you
can have our girls. Lose, and we'll get them back." "Those girls aren't trophies." Davy said. "Oh, you're Mr. Moral,
aint'cha?" Ritchie said, starting toward Davy. The other three Monkees stepped in front of their friend. "What if we don't
want to be in your competition?" Peter asked, his voice shaking a little. "Oh I dunno." Ethan said, "But it would be a
shame if the something happened to your instruments like what happened to your car." "Meet us at eight O’clock tomorrow
morning at the top of the ridge." Duncan said, "Or we'll tell the girls you're chicken." The guys laughed as they walked
away, leaving the Monkees to wonder what to do. "Still, we can't let them continue to intimidate us." Micky said. "Yeah,
we can't let our instruments get damaged." Davy added. "Men." Mike said, turning to face his band mates, "There comes a
time when we have to take a stand." "We don't need to take any, Mike." Peter said, "We have all the stands we want." He
pointed to the music stands. "Not that kind of stand, Peter." Mike said, "We have to defend ourselves and the honor of
these young ladies." "So we're agreed?" Davy asked, holding his hand out. His band mates put their hands on top of
Davy's hand. The girls reached in and put their hands in top too. "We're in this with you guys." Kat said. "You're
gonna be the first ones to ever stand up to them." Lena added. "You guys really are going through this?" asked Nicole. "Looks
that way," Mike answered. "Do you know what you're up against?” asked Lena. “We can do it," said Peter. "Have
you gotten anytime to practice?" asked Kat. "We've been practicing on the sand at the beach," said Micky. Better than
no experience," said Holly. "True," said Davy. The Monkees then said goodnight to the girls and went to their room to
rest up for the big day tomorrow. However, the guys didn't get much sleep that night.
The next morning, the Monkees
met up with the rivals at the exact time and meeting place. "Well, you guys aren't that much as chickens as we thought
you were," said Duncan. "We thought you weren't going to make it," said Kyle. "Are you guys sure you want to do this
here?" asked Richie. "Yeah, you can always go on the bunny slope," said Ethan, who then began to laugh as did his friends. The
Monkees shook their heads, ignored the comments and got themselves ready for their challenge. "You guys ready?" Mike asked
his band mates. "I think so," said Peter. "I'm ready," said Micky. "Me too," said Davy. The Monkees then turned
to their rivals, and nodded their heads telling that their ready to go. Meanwhile, at the bottom of the mountain, the girls
were watching what was going on at the top through binoculars. They had feeling of nerves of what was going to happen once
the contest started.
"We'll be sports about this." Duncan said, "We'll let you four weirdoes have a head start." "Okay." Mike said, nodding
to his band mates, "Let's go!" The Monkees dug their poles into the snow and pushed off down the mountain. They had skied
about fifty feet when the other four men began their descent. It didn't take long for them to overtake the Monkees. Ethan
skied right between Mike and Peter, nearly knocking them over. Ritchie was right behind Ethan and purposely knocked into Davy. "Watch
out, shorty!" Ritchie laughed. Duncan and Kyle barreled in front of the Monkees. Ethan began to show off and went up a
snow bank, twisted around in the air and came back down on the snow. The Monkees were just barely keeping up, trying to
avoid the ruts in the snow and the tree trunks. Kyle purposely put up a wave of snow at the Monkees, making it hard for
them to see. After a few seconds, the eight men were heading down into the trees.
Richie, Kyle, Ethan and Duncan made it through the patch of many trees without any problems. And by a stroke of good
luck, The Monkees also made it through without any trouble. However, the guys' relief was short lived when they saw a huge
bank of snow in their path. "Uh-oh," said Micky. "You got that right," said Mike. "What do we do?' asked Peter. "Hope
that the snow is soft enough to give us a safe landing," Davy answered. The guys indeed didn't crash into the snow bank,
but instead went over it, causing them to sail in the air briefly, before landing on the ground, but not as gently as they
thought they would. Peter crashed into a snowman, Mike fell in a snow bank, Davy ended up by some branches, and Micky landed
feet first before falling down. "Is everybody ok?" Mike asked, climbing out of the snow bank. "I'm fine, said Peter,
dusting some snow off him, Luckily Frosty broke my fall." "Same here," said Davy getting himself up. "Me to," said Micky,
removing his skis, but once he tried to stand up, he felt pain in his lower leg. "Ouch!" he went. "What's wrong?" Mike
asked as he and Peter approached their friend. "I think I sprained my ankle when I fell," Micky answered. "And I got
a pretty good scratch from those branches," said Davy showing the guys his hand. Just then, the Monkees heard laughter
coming towards them. It was their rivals. "What took you guys so long to get here?" asked Duncan. "Yeah, about time
you four showed up," said Kyle. "Looks like we win," said Ethan. "And you lost," said Richie. The four troublemakers
laughed and skied away. The Monkees looked around four the girls, but they were nowhere to be found. Upset by the whole
ordeal, the Monkees let out four heavy sighs and headed back to the lodge.
Back at the lodge, the Monkees sulked in their room feeling quite depressed, not about losing to those creeps, but seeing
that the girls left with them. Mike and Peter, who were still cold from crashing into all that snow were bundled up as
they played a game of checkers, Davy was taking care of the scratches on his hand. Micky was resting his ankle, which had
a wrap around it from a trip to the first-aid station and was resting his lower leg on a pillow.
"You know, I though
the girls told us that they came here to get away from those jerks, but they left with them," said Davy, rubbing some lotion
on his sores. "No, they probably didn't want to been seen with a bunch of losers like us," said Peter. "There is such
a thing as being a sore winner," said Micky, fixing his pillow. "How do you know?" "That's what the girls' boyfriends
were acting like." Just then, there was a knock at the door. "Come in," Mike called out. The door opened and the
girls entered the room. "There you guys are," said Lena. "We've been looking everywhere for you?" said Nicole. "You
have?" asked Peter. "Yes, we over heard the guys say you we're having problems on the trail so we went looking for you,"
said Holly. "But we couldn't find you, so we met up with our ex-boyfriends, and they said that you guys came in last place
and went back to the lodge," said Kat. "We hope you're ok." "Well, he did have a few crashes," said Mike. "I got
a few scratches on my hand," said Davy. "And I got a sprained ankle, but the nurse in the nurse in the first-aid station
said it will heal in a few days," said Micky. "We're sorry about what happened to you," said Lena. "If we stuck around,
this wouldn’t had happened," said Nicole. "It still would had happened," said Mike. "Yeah, it's not your faults,"
said Davy. "Really?" asked Holly. "You actually did the right thing walking away from those guys," said Peter. "Something
we should had done," said Micky. "But we're proud of you guys, because you're the first group of people to stick up to
our ex-boyfriends like that," said Kat. The Monkees were glad to hear that.
The Monkees and the girls were hanging out for sometime, when there was a knock at the door. "I'll get it," said Mike,
who got up from his chair. He answered the door and there stood the policemen, who were on the scene when the Monkeemobile
got damaged. "Good afternoon gentlemen," said one officer. "We came by to tell you have think we might know who did
the damage to your car," said the other officer. Davy, who heard the officer came to the door and asked the officers, “You
know who it is?" "Well, we had the labs take a look at the finger prints and we were able to get a few answers," said the
first officer. "We're looking for Duncan Carmello, Richard Velch, Kyle Lendo, and Ethan Hass," said the second officer. "Oh
no," said Lena. "What's wrong?" asked Peter. "Those are the guys' names," said Holly. "I knew it was them," said
Kat. "I hate to say this, but I agree abut it to," said Nicole. "Yeah, I bet they took off after the ski contest so
the police won't find them," said Micky. "We're going be searching the area looking for them," said the first officer. "You're
more than welcome to help us if you like," said the second officer. And the girls and the Monkees join the policemen in
search for the gang of troublemakers.
The police officers suggested that they, the Monkees and the girls should split up to make easier to find the troublemakers. Everyone
agreed on that. So the police went in one direction, while the guys and the girls took another way. The gang was walking
for sometime, when Holly looked up to the sky and said, “Looks like it's starting to get dark." "And it's getting
even colder to," said Lena, digging her hands into the pockets of her coat to keep warm. "I hope we find those guys soon,"
said Nicole. "Are you feeling worried about them?" asked Kat. "No, I want to give them an earful about how they've been
acting." "You're not the only one." "Well, as long as we got these flashlights and everyone is doing ok, I think we
can keep going," said Mike. The girls said they were find by that. "Same here with me," said Peter. "I'm game," said
Davy. "I'm doing good," said Micky, even though he was having a bit of trouble getting around the snow with his crutches. He
then came up with the solution of placing them under his arm and hopped in the snow.
Pretty soon, it was beginning
to get real dark and two of the eight flashlights they were using were dead. "You know, I'm having trouble seeing anything,"
said Davy. "Me to, I can't even see my own fingers," said Peter. "Maybe we should call it a night," said Kat. "And
we can have a fresh start early in the morning," said Holly. "Good idea," said Mike. Just as everyone was turning back
the other way to head back to the lodge, they heard a sound. "Hell-o!" called a voice. "What was that?" asked Lena,
who was beginning to get nervous. "I'm sure that was just the wind," said Micky, trying to keep everyone, who all getting
worry calm. "Hell-o!" the voice called again. "Sounds like it's coming from that way," said Nicole, pointing into a
path of trees. Everyone then headed in that direction. And sure enough, when they got there, they found Richie, Kyle, Duncan
and Ethan, standing on a block of thin ice. "Oh my!" said Lean, in surprise. "There they are!" said Kat. "What are
you guys doing on the ice, it's dangerous?" asked Holly. "And also, how did you get here?" asked Nicole. "Well after
we won the contest, we went to look for you girls," said Kyle. "Then we saw the police car in the parking lot and we took
off," said Duncan. "We took a long path way though the trees and decided to stay low till the cops leave," said Ethan. "But
we didn't know we were standing on a pond with thin ice, until we notice the ice starting to break apart," said Richie. "Yeah,
we already know you did the damage to our car," said Mike. "The police told us and they're still looking for you," said
Davy. Peter, who was beginning to feel sorry for the troublemakers, despite what they did spoke up. "Still, we can't
just leave like that we have to get them off the pond before the ice breaks," he said going out towards the pond, but getting
stopped by the guys. "Hold on, we can't just run out to the pond like that, or we'll all fall in," said Micky. The eight-member
search party then formed a circle to figure out a plan. That's when Mike came up with something. He then lied down on the
ground that edged the pond. "What are you doing?" asked Peter. "We're going to form a human chain,” Mike answered.
“Since I'm the heaviest, I'm going to be the anchor.” Peter, who then understood what was going to happen then
carefully crawled onto the ice and Mike grabbed a hold of his ankles. Micky had to be extra careful getting on the ice
with his leg, and Peter held on to his ankles, trying hard not to squeeze the injured one too tight. Davy, who was the
last to get on the ice, crawled as careful as he could, then Micky grabbed on to his ankles. "Ok you guys, one of you grab
Davy's arms and we'll pull you to safety!" Mike called out to the gang. However, neither one of the girl's ex boy friends
can get a hold of Davy's arms. "I can't reach any further," Davy said. The girls began to worry for everyone's safety. Just
then Micky came up with an idea. "Girls, pass up one of my crutches!" he called out. The girls did just that. The grabbed
one of the crutches, then passed it to Mike, who handed it to Peter, who then gave it to Micky, who let Davy get a hold of
it. "Here's grab on to this," said Davy, sticking out the crutch. The girl's ex-boyfriends then grabbed the crutch and
with that Mike shifted his weight inward and pulled everyone to safety. Just as everyone got off the pond, the ice then
melted in the water. "That was close," said Peter. "You're telling me," said Davy.
The now large sized group then headed back to the lodge. "Hey listen you guys," Kyle said to the Monkees. "We just
want to say thank you saving us," said Richie. "And after what we did to you guys," said Ethan. "You still are going
to turn us to the cops?" asked Duncan. Mike took a deep breath and answered," Well, I think they still are here looking
for you." "What's going to happen now?" asked Peter. "I’m not sure," Davy answered. "Looks like were going
have to wait and see," said Micky. And sure enough where they all returned the lodge, there were the two cops. "Looks
like you found them," said the first officer. "This saved us a lot of time," said the second officer. The police then
took out several pairs of handcuffs and place them on Richie, Kyle, Ethan and Duncan.
The Monkees and even the girls watch with upset looks on their faces. Despite the trouble the four caused, they all couldn’t
help but feel sorry. "Wait a minute," Nicole spoke up. "Is there a problem?" the first officer ask. "We know what
they did was wrong," said Lena. "But isn't there something they could do to make up for the damage they did?" asked Holly. "Like
some sort of community service?" asked Kat. "Well, that all depends if the owners of the car will be pressing charges,"
said the second officers turning to the Monkees. "Nope," Peter answered. "That won't be necessary," said Mike. "No,"
said Davy. "We won't be pressing charges," said Micky. The girls and the ex-boyfriends breathed a sigh of relief. The
police then told the gang of guys that instead of going to jail, they will be doing community service working at the local
gas station and car repair shop, plus they had to pay for the damages done to the Monkeemobile. The four young men agreed
to the punishment.
The next day, the Monkeemoblie was returned to the Monkees, good as new. And as promised the
girl's ex-boyfriends paid for the repairs. It was also the day the Monkees were leaving to go back home. As the guys
were loading their items into their newly redone car, the girls and their ex-boyfriends approached them. "We're glad you
guys haven't left yet," said Richie. "Yeah, we just wanted to come to say thanks for all you've done for us," said Duncan. "It
was nothing," said Mike. "No it was something," said Ethan. "We decided to change our ways around," said Kyle. The
girls then came up to the Monkees and gave them each a kiss on the cheek. "And thank you guys for all your help," said
Nicole. "What help?" asked Davy. "Making our boyfriends jealous.” Lean answered. "Excuse me?" asked Micky. "When
we met you guys, we thought you'd be the prefect guys for our plan," said Holly. "I don't understand," said Peter. "We
figured a group of nice guys like you would be a good influence to our boyfriends and it worked," said Kat. The girls and
their boyfriends then thanks the Monkees thanked the Monkees once again, said good-bye and left, leaving the Monkees feeling
dumfounded.
The next day, the Monkees were hanging out at the pad, Mike was placing new stings on his guitar, Micky
was reading a book and keeping is ankle, which was still in a bandage elevated on a pillow, Davy was reading a magazine and
eating an apple, and Peter got off the phone with his Mom. "Guess what guys, Mom just invited us to come visit for a few
days, he said They just got a lot of snow and they're skating, sledding, skiing…" Davy, Micky and Mike responded
to by throwing pillows at their band mate. "What did I say?" Peter asked.
