PLEASANT DREAMS

"Wow, was that an awesome gig, or what?" Micky enthused as the four Monkees unloaded their musical equipment from the car into the house.
"Yeah," Davy agreed, "I've never seen so many beautiful girls together in one room before."
"And they were all cheering for us!" Peter added.
"The best part, in my opinion," Mike stated as he put down his guitar and flopped on the couch, "was the pay. The Vincent pays much better than the Cassandra, and it’s a lot cleaner."
"Yep," Micky plopped his drums on the bandstand and headed toward the spiral staircase, "We'll be able to pay our overdue rent tomorrow." He yawned, "But right now, I'm going to bed. It's past midnight."
The others all favoured this idea, and headed into their respective bedrooms. As he crawled into bed, a tune popped into Micky's head. He hadn't thought of it in years, although his mother used to sing it to him every night when he was little. He began to hum, and then softly sing the first part of the song:
"There's a wonderland for Alice,
There's a tall beanstalk for Jack.
The sleepy train will take you there,
So safely down the track.
With the sandman at the throttle,
You'll be off to dreams and back.
It's pillow time again..."
As he sang the last line his vision fuzzed over, and he felt himself falling sway to the proverbial sandman as his eyelids grew heavy and his thoughts wandered.

THE SLEEPY TRAIN

Something bright slowly pierced the darkness of Micky's closed eyelids and a noise, which started as a slight fuzz, grew louder and louder. He opened his eyes and found himself near a bustling train station. People rushed to and fro, carrying suitcases, briefcases, and . . . pillowcases? Micky blinked, then looked again, but he undoubtedly saw that everyone carried along with him or her a pillow. Large, small, patterned, plain, everyone had a pillow. He stood up and walked into the station. As he drew closer, he realized that what he had at first perceived to be a crowd of people now proved to be a swarm of animals (dressed in human clothing), gnomes, fairies, trolls, some children, and an assortment of unrecognizable creatures, each bearing a pillow.
He approached a booth to see if anyone could help him, and found himself face-to-face with a large white rabbit, who apparently sold the tickets. "Um, excuse me," he began, but was cut off.
"Destination?" the rabbit looked quizzically over his spectacles (for, indeed, he was wearing spectacles, along with a vest and tie).
"Um..." Micky looked at a chart posted on the side of the booth. He silently read the strange names of the stations, 'Wonderland Way, Beanstalk Field, Gnome Hollow, Daffodil Valley, Mother Goose Lane...' That last one sounded fun. "Mother Goose Lane, I guess," he told the rabbit.
Immediately the rabbit punched a button on the wall of his booth and a large pink card ejected from the wall by Micky's face. Grabbing the card, the drummer asked, "How much does it cost?"
"Cost?" the rabbit looked at him curiously, "The Sleepy Train doesn't cost a single gumdrop, everyone knows that." The rude rabbit scoffed, then looked over Micky's shoulder to a small blue gnome, "Next!"
Micky stepped away from the ticket booth and headed over to a line of creatures boarding the train as a frog, dressed in a waistcoat, tie, and breeches, called out, "Last call for the Sleepy Train! Last call! All Aboard!!" Micky entered the line behind a group of fairies who were only slightly taller than his waist. Each carried a fluffy pink pillow and were clothed in matching pink dresses made of silk and gauze. The smallest of them looked strangely at Micky, then asked in a voice that sounded like the tinkling of bells, "Excuse me sir, but where's your pillow?"
"My pillow?" Micky repeated the question, then, realizing that that is a most annoying thing to do to someone, he replied, "I haven't got a pillow."
"Oh, then you will be most uncomfortable. Haven't you ever ridden on the Sleepy train before?"
"No, this is my first time here... wherever here is. Why do you say I'll be uncomfortable?"
"Why, there are no seats in the Sleepy Train. That's why people bring pillows, so that their heads won't have to rest on the hard floor. Anyway, how did you get here if you don't know where you are?"
"I'm not sure... I just woke up in the field over there, and haven't a clue as to how I got there!
"Well, then!" the fairy exclaimed, "Welcome to Fairy Land!" With that, she climbed onto the train.
Micky entered the carriage and beheld a wonderful sight. The car was empty of seats, but crammed with the creatures he'd seen outside. Each was making himself comfortable, lying on the floor with a pillow under his head. Not sure exactly what to do, Micky found a corner and sat down between a mole wearing a three-piece suit and a small brownie boy. The mole's eyes were closed and didn't acknowledge Micky's presence, but the brownie looked at him quizzically before laying himself down.
Feeling awkward, and altogether much too big, Micky tried to scrunch himself smaller. 'I wonder when the train will take off,' he thought, 'and how am I to get back home?' A loud blast from a whistle interrupted his thoughts, and the train lurched forward. It puffed along at a decent pace for a while before the door to the carriage was opened, and a man with a large sack entered the room.
Micky looked up to see the man reaching into his sack and pulling out a handful of something which he sprinkled onto a hedgehog family. Snores erupted almost immediately from the hedgehog father, and the man moved on, coating all the occupants of the carriage with the dust. As the man approached Micky, the drummer realized with a shock, 'The Sandman! I mustn't let him sprinkle me, or I'll be out like a light.' Unfortunately, the grains of sand were already flying his way. Imbedding themselves in his eyes, the sand forced him to enter a deep sleep.

JACK AND JILL

Micky woke up to a loud voice crying out "All off for Mother Goose Lane! Last call for Mother Goose Lane!" Realizing that was his destination, Micky rubbed the sleepy sand out of his eyes and stood up. Half of the occupants of the train had left and been replaced by others and were all fast asleep except for the few who were getting off at Mother Goose Lane.
Stumbling out the door, Micky was blinded by the sunlight which shone brightly on a little town. The street was paved with brightly-colored cobblestones and a sign stated simply, "Mother Goose Lane". Curious, Micky headed toward the town.
Each of the colorful houses sported a bright nameplate. Micky read the names as he went by, recognizing a few of them, "Jack Sprat, Peter Piper, Miss Muffet..." There weren't many houses, and Micky soon found himself in a field of rolling hills. He saw a girl off in the distance with a flock of sheep, obviously looking for something, and figured her to be Bo Peep. Farther away, a castle stood between two hills, and it probably housed the famous Old King Cole. At the top of one of the hills, he saw two children fetching water from a well. 'Jack and Jill!' Micky thought, and headed toward them, as that had always been his favourite Nursery Rhyme.
As he approached them they started their descent. Micky quickly realized that something was the matter, because Jack was pulling the bucket much too fast for poor Jill's little legs to go, and he was losing his grip. Sure enough, Jack's hand slipped and he started to tumble down the hill. Micky was there in an instant and soon righted the child.
"Gee, thanks mister!" Jack said, "You saved me from having my head wrapped in vinegar and brown paper again. It seems I always fall down the hill and hurt myself, and that makes mother cross."
Just then Jill came running up, tears streaming down her face. "Jack!" she cried, "Are you alright?"
"Yeah, thanks to this nice man," Jack replied, then asked, "What's your name? Mine's Jack and this is my sister, Jill."
"Micky Dolenz," Micky replied. "And it's a pleasure to meet you. Now, if you don't mind, I'll fetch your water for you and you can take it on to your mother."
"Wow, thanks!" Jack said, and accompanied Micky up the hill. "Jill and me can never seem to carry the water down the hill, and then Dad has to do it when he gets home, and that makes mother very cross."
"Well, I think if you took your time and let Jill go slower you wouldn't slip so easily. You should try it sometime. Her legs are shorter than yours and can't walk as fast." Micky retrieved the water and walked it down the hill.
"Hey, yeah." The boy said, "I never thought of it that way before, I'll have to try it next time. Thanks, Mister Dolenz!"
"You're welcome, and it's Micky."
"Well, we gotta go now, I think we can manage the water from here." Jack said, "Goodbye, Micky!"
"Bye Jack, and remember what I said," Micky instructed while handing the water over, "Walk slower." With that the boy took the bucket and headed off toward the town.

HUMPTY DUMPTY

Micky continued on down the lane, further up into the hills. Before long a quaint little brick wall bordered the path. After a bit it grew in size until it was almost as tall as Micky himself. He wondered why they needed a wall of that height when the scenery was so beautiful. Soon he heard an awful shriek, followed by a sickening crunch. Alarmed, Micky sprinted forward to see what had made the noise.
Rounding the corner, a dreadful sight befell him. What looked to be half boy, half egg lay smashed in the street. It had cracked into five pieces, one with each arm or leg, and one with the face. A sailor's hat lay discarded to the side, and a yellow runniness spread across the road. Grimacing, Micky decided to move on, but the face spoke to him.
"Please help me, sir!" it cried in a pitiful voice, "My name is Humpty Dumpty, and I've suffered a terrible fall. Please put me back together!"
"Put you back together? How am I to get all of the yolky stuff back in, even if I could put you together?" Micky was repulsed at the idea of touching the fractured egg-boy, but felt bad about his bad luck.
"How am I to know how you're to put me together again. I bet even all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't do that. As for the yolk, I've never found any purpose for that, so it's okay to stay in the road."
"Well, let me think..." Micky put his hand in his pocket and immediately knew how he could fix Humpty. Inside his pocket was a tube of superglue he'd used to mend a broken drumstick just before bed. He'd absentmindedly put it in his pajama pocket, and had forgotten it until now. "Here," he said, "I think I've a way of mending you."
Working carefully, Micky soon had the child back to normal, and couldn't tell where the cracks were.
"Thanks, you really saved my life!" Humpty said.
"Now be careful, and no more climbing up walls again, okay?" Micky reprimanded.
"Right," Humpty agreed, "No more walls." And with that, he faded away. Actually everything faded away, the wall, the path, the hills. All that was left was the bright sunlight searing into Micky's brain.
Opening his eyes, Micky found himself back in his bedroom, the morning sunlight filling the room with brightness. 'I'm back!' he thought, 'It was all a dream. Oh, well.' Reaching up to his eyes, he felt something grinding in them. Fishing out the offending objects, he found it was none other than tiny grains of sand.

There's a wonderland for Alice,
There's a tall beanstalk for Jack.
The sleepy train will take you there,
So safely down the track.
With the sandman at the throttle,
You'll be off to dreams and back.
It's pillow time again.

You will meet all your storybook friends,
As you go down Mother Goose Lane.
Romp with Jack and Jill,
Up and down the hill.
And try to put Humpty together again.

Close your sleepy eyes and listen,
While we take a little hop.
The candy whistle's blowin',
Don't you miss your station stop.
So good night my wee way fairer,
Pleasant dreams to you, oh tot.
It's pillow time again.

It was a dream....or was it??

Ghosts, Spooks And Ghouls Oh My!

By: Mickys411 and Lisa Rated G

One cool fall day, The Monkees were hanging around the pad, after taking a drive around town in the Monkeemoblie, since it was such a nice day, when they heard a knock at the door.
Mike went up to answer it, and saw that Bobby the Mailman was there.
"Hey there, Bobby." said Mike.
"Hi Mike," said Bobby, handing Mike the mail.
"Thanks man." Mike then closed the door.
"Hey fellas, we got a letter.”
The guys headed to the kitchen table as they always do to check the mail.
"Who's it from?" asked Davy.
"It's from Dr. Louis Myers," Mike answered.
Awhile back, the Monkees inherited a place that belonged to Dr. Myer's uncle, who was a scientist and met a friend of his named Slimer.
Slimer met up with Louis and moved to the country Louis and his family.
"What does the letter say?" Micky asked.
"It's says that everyone is doing well and the town is having their annual Halloween fair and they recommended the committee to have us play at the event," said Mike.
"Hey groovy," said Davy.
"Can we go?" asked Micky.
"Yeah, I'd like to see Slimer again," said Peter.
Mike thought for a minute and said, “I’ll call Dr. Myers and tell him we accept the gig."

The guys packed for the trip that same day, and the next day, they were off to visit Dr. Myers' vet farm.
They took the train, which didn't take too long, and soon enough, they arrived at their destination. The Monkees took a cab to the farm.
"Here we are." said Mike, when the cab arrived at the farm.
They paid the cab driver and arrived at the front door.
Mike knocked and Dr. Myers answered it.
"Hi fellas, come on in, we've been expecting you," said Dr. Myers, inviting the guys in.
"You got a lovely house Dr. Myers," said Peter.
"Thank you and please call me Louis," said Louis.
Just then, a woman around Dr. Myer's age entered the room.
"You must be The Monkees,” said woman, “I'm Gina, Dr. Louis wife."
"Kids, we have guest," called Louis.
At that moment, four kids, all different ages entered the room as did Slimer, who was ever happy to see the guys.
"Monkees!" Slimer said, greeting each of the guys with a big slimy kiss.
"It's great to see you again Slimer," said Peter.
"Slimer miss Monkees."
Gina and Louis introduced the kids, Josh who was fourteen, Lucy who was eleven, Kevin who was seven and Sally who was four and a half.
Gina and Louis then invited the guys to a home cooked meal, then told the guys that since there wasn't a lot of room in the house, they would have stay in the barn. The guys didn't mind at all.
Later that night, the guys settled into the barn for the night and went to sleep.
During the night, Micky was asleep when he felt something by his face.
"Slimer, cut it out, I'll see you in the morning," Micky mumbled in his sleep. Just then, he heard a bark.
Micky jumped, screamed and hid in a stack of hay, which woke the other Monkees up.
"Mick, what's wrong?" Mike asked.
"I think this barn is haunted!" said Micky.
"You know Micky, it may be an old barn, but you shouldn't say that about somebody's house,” said Davy, “Besides, I think you've been watching too many of those late night spooky movies."
Just then, the guys saw something move in the hay.
"There it is," said Micky.
A beagle dog popped out of the hay.
"So Micky, that's your ghost," said Davy with a laugh.
Just then, Louis, Gina, the kids and Slimer entered the farm.
"Is everything ok?" asked Louis.
"We heard a scream," said Gina.
"Hey, you found Scooter." said Josh.
"Scooter?" said Mike.
"Our puppy," said Lucy.
Mike Davy and Peter began to snicker at the thought that Micky was scared of a puppy.

The next morning, the Monkees were woken up by the call of the roster.
"Did you have any dreams about haunted puppy dogs?" Davy asked Micky with a laugh.
"Help, Help, the evil puppy is gonna get me," said Mike, who was also laughing.
"Come on you guys," said Micky.
"Sorry Micky, but you had to admit, it was kind of funny," said Davy.
"I didn't think it was funny," said Peter.
"Thanks Pete," said Micky.
"Though it was funny to see the look on your face."
Peter began to snicker as well.
Micky just rolled his eyes, and ignored the laughing. Just then, Gina and Louis entered the barn.
"Morning fellas," said Louis.
"Morning," the Monkees answered back.
"You guys got up just in time, breakfast is on the table," said Gina.
Louis, Gina and The Monkees walked into the house to find the kids and Slimer at the kitchen table.
"Morning Monkees," said Slimer.
"Morning everyone," said Peter.
The guys took their places at the table.
"So, did you guys have a good night's sleep?" asked Gina.
"Well, except for the part with Micky and the dog, yes," Davy answered, as he was trying to keep from laughing again.
"Why don't we change the subject? said Micky, turning to the kids, So you guys ready for Halloween."
"You bet," said kids at once.
"We're actually going to help set up for the fair," said Lucy.
"And there's going to be a costume parade,” said Josh, “I'm dressing as a pirate."
"I'm going as a princess."
"I'm gonna be a policeman," said Kevin.
"I'm going to be a cowgirl," said Sally, hugging her stuffed bear.
"Who ever heard of a cowgirl with a teddy bear?"
"Now Kevin, if Sally wants to carry her teddy bear in the parade, she can," said Gina.
Sally smiled and stuck her tongue out at her brother.
"Hey, Louis, can you show us where we'll be playing the gig?" Mike asked between bites.
"Sure, it'll be over at the gazebo in the park after the costume parade." Louis remarked, "I'll show you where it is after breakfast."
So after breakfast, Louis drove the Monkee over to the park. In the middle was a large white gazebo with flowers all around. The Monkees checked out the area to see if there would be enough electric plugs and room to put their instruments. Everything looked fine to them, so they walked back to Louis.
"Say, guys, if you want to, you can wear costumes when you play." He said.
"I'd like that." Davy said.
The other Monkees agreed too, and Louis and so when they got back to the house, he took them up to the attic and showed them some old clothes which they could use for costumes.
"I have my rounds to do, guys." He said, "Help yourself to those clothes and maybe you'll find something you'll like."
"Thanks, Louis." Peter said.
The guys looked through the stuff and Micky found an old metal crown with glass 'jewels'. On a whim, he put it on.
"Hey, I'm a king!" Micky laughed.
"Hail, King Micky!" Davy laughed, bowing down.
Micky looked in an old stand-up mirror and admired himself. Mike walked over and put a robe on him.
"There, now you look more king-like." Mike said.
Micky looked in the mirror, then noticed something flash behind him in the mirror. He quickly turned, but the image was gone.
"Did you see that?" Micky asked his band mates.
"See what?" Mike asked.
"I thought I saw a flash, almost ghost-like." Micky remarked.
"First, a haunted puppy, now this!" Davy laughed. The others joined in too.
Micky laughed, but was sure he had seen something in the mirror...watching.

The Monkees continued to look in the attic for costumes.
"Hey, what do you guys think of this?" asked Davy, modeling a top hat, coat and cane.
"Suits you perfect," said Mike with a laugh.
"What about me?" asked Peter, wearing a colorful bow tie and fake red nose.
"Groovy clown gear Pete," said Micky.
"I'm not a clown, I'm a person with a cold."
Little did the guys know, something or someone was peeking in on them, through the mirror. As Micky was looking around in another part of the attic, he felt something tug his leg.
"Slimer, is that you?" he asked.
There was no answer, so Micky went back to what he was doing.
Once again, Micky felt a tug on his leg.
"Guys, Slimer, you there?" he asked again.

There was no answer to Micky's question. Once again, there was a tugging on his leg. Getting annoyed, Micky put his crown down and looked at his leg.
To his shock, it was a small green creature about a foot high with a large nose that sort of looked like Slimer. It floated around Micky, pulling on his pants leg.
"Who are you?" Micky asked.
The creature didn't answer, but picked up Micky's crown and began to float away.
"Hey, come back with my crown!" Micky shouted.
But the creature floated away even faster toward the mirror. The other Monkees stopped what they were doing to see what Micky was running after.
"What's going on?" Davy asked.
Suddenly, the green creature zoomed past him, with Micky close behind.
"He's got my crown!" Micky shouted.
The green creature zoomed up to the mirror-and began to pass through it! Micky came up from behind and grabbed the crown, but the green creature wouldn't let go!
"Get your own crown!" Micky said.
"Let him have it, Micky!" Mike said, "It might belong to him!"
Suddenly, other hands of different shapes and sizes came through the mirror and grabbed Micky's arm! Before anyone could react, Micky was dragged through the mirror!
"Micky!" The other three Monkees shouted. They ran over to the mirror and tried to put their hands though it, but the mirror was solid once again.
"Oh, no!" Peter cried.
"I'll get Slimer!" Davy shouted and ran out of the attic.

Micky passed through a black tunnel and landed with a thud on the floor. Looking around, the little green creature he had been chasing was nowhere to be seen.
"Where am I?" Micky asked, getting scared. The room he was in was dark with only a single torch to light the darkness.
"You are in Ghost World now!" A voice boomed out of nowhere.
"Where?" Micky asked the voice.
Out of nowhere, several ugly ghosts appeared and pulled Micky to his feet. He was dragged over to a table, forced to lay down on it and had his wrists and ankles chained to the sides.
"Yes, you will do very well..." The voice said again.
It was all too much for Micky and he fainted.

Back in the real world, Davy returned up to the attic with Slimer.
"Slimer, maybe you can help us," said Mike.
"Something or somebody pulled Micky through that mirror," said Peter.
"Oh, he's back," said Slimer.
"Who's back?" asked Peter.
"Murko, he bad news."
"Who is this Murko?" Mike asked.
"Murko bad, cause trouble," Slimer said again.
"What a minute, you met him before?" Davy asked.
"Yes, Murko kicked Slimer out of ghost world, wasn't bad enough."
"Slimer, if that ghost we saw went through the mirror, maybe you can too," said Mike.
"Ok, I'll try."
Slimer tried to go through the mirror with out much success.
"What are we going to do?" asked Davy.
"Poor Micky," sighed Peter.
"How are we going to save him," Mike wondered.

Just then, a thought Popped into Slimer's head.
"Slimer got an idea," he said.
Slimer floated to a near-by trunk and opened it.
"Skippy's books, can help," said Slimer, handing a book to Mike.
"Groovy Slimer," said Peter.
"Yes, this can really come in handy," said Davy.
"Thanks for the idea," said Mike.
Slimer beamed a bit.
"Come on, let's read some of it now," said Davy.

Back in the Ghost World, Micky woke from an unpleasant sleep, to see an object that looked like a flashlight was pointed in front of his face.
"What, how?" Micky said.
"Good, he's awake,” said a voice, “Now shoot."
A ghost turned the flashlight on, and hit it into Micky's face.
Micky then screamed.
A few moments or so later, the light was off. A ghost handed Micky a mirror.
He looked into it.
His hazel eyes were now bright green, and a smirky looking smile appeared on his face.
"Oh yes, this will do very nicely." Micky said, looking at his reflection, "The fools will never know until it is too late!" Then he and the ghosts began to laugh.

Mike, Peter, Davy and Slimer were still sitting in Louis' attic looking through books trying to find a way through the mirror in front of them.
"Any luck, guys?" Mike asked.
"No, how about you?" Peter asked.
"This book has a lot of info about the ghosts in Ghost World and the bad guy Slimer mentioned, but I can't find a thing about this mirror." Mike replied.
Suddenly, the mirror began to shine and sparkle. The three Monkees and Slimer moved away, afraid of what would happen.
"What's going on?" Davy asked.
Nobody, not even Slimer, knew what to expect. Suddenly, Micky came flying through the mirror and landed on the floor. The mirror went back to looking normal.
"Micky!" Everyone shouted.
"Wow, what a trip." Micky groaned as he picked himself up off the floor.
"You ok, Micky?" Slimer asked “I think so, Slimer.” Micky replied.
"What happened, man?" Davy asked.
"Those ghosts pulled me in through that mirror and I landed in a dark room." Micky said, "But before they could do anything, I jumped back into the mirror and finally landed here."
"You sure were lucky, Micky." Peter remarked.
"Yeah, I guess I am." Micky replied.
"We better tell the doc what happened." Mike said, "And get that mirror destroyed or covered up."
"Yeah, let's go do that." Micky said, "I'd like to meet him."
"Meet him?" Peter asked, "You already know Louis."
"Oh yeah, I mean, meet him again and tell him what's up." Micky said with a nervous chuckle.
The Monkees and Slimer looked at each other.
"Are you sure you're ok, Mick?" Mike asked.
"Never felt better, Tex." Micky smiled.
"He's doing his rounds so let's see if we can meet him." Davy said after a few seconds.
So the Monkees and Slimer went off to see Louis, with Slimer hanging behind a little. As the walked along, Micky had a smirk on his face, and his eyes glowed green. He was looking forward to seeing Louis...and his paranormal experiments.
Micky hung back a second and when he thought the others were gone, he looked at the mirror.

Micky's green eyes began to shine and he pointed them to the mirror.
And with that, the mirror started to glow, until images of the ghosts appear.
"I'll come back tonight, and tell you my plan," said Micky.
"You got it," said one of the ghosts.
The images in the mirror faded, and Micky's eyes went back to normal or close to it.
Little did he know, Slimer saw the whole thing.
He rushed to find Mike, Peter and Davy what happened.

Micky quickly caught up with his band mates once again.
"Where'd you go, Micky?" Mike asked.
"Oh, some of the other objects in the attic looked kinda funny and I took a look at them."
"Better stay away from anything strange, Micky." Peter replied, "You were lucky the last time."
"Yeah, you're right." Micky smiled.
Slimer then rushed over to them.
"Monkees, listen!" He shouted.
"What's the matter, Slimer?" Davy asked.
But before Slimer could answer, Micky's eyes flashed and Slimer found he could no longer talk! He tried to speak, but no words came out.
"What's wrong, Slimer?" Mike asked.
Slimer clutched at his throat, but couldn't make a sound.
"Slimer must've caught some sort of virus." Micky said, "He can't talk."
"You better go rest, Slimer." Peter said, "We'll go talk to Louis and found out about that mirror."
Slimer gestured frantically, trying to tell Mike, Peter and Davy that Micky was under some sort of spell, but the Monkees had already walked away to try and find Louis. Micky looked back and smirked at the green ghost, then followed the others.
As it turned out, Louis was just coming back inside. Davy told him what had happened with Micky and Louis took them down to the lab. Slimer, however, had not given up and was still trying to tell everyone something was wrong. He tried to follow the men down down to the lab. But Micky, still hanging behind the others, flashed his eyes again, and sent Slimer flying out of the house and into a far away field. When the others had gone inside the lab, Louis shut the special door, making it impossible for Slimer to come inside.
"What can you tell us about that mirror, Louis?" Davy asked.
"I should've smashed that mirror long ago." Louis said, "But the only reason I kept it intact was that it is one of the few remaining links to Ghost World."
"Why keep the link open anyway?" Peter asked.
"I had hoped, still hope, in fact, to one day visit Ghost World and see what life is like in the paranormal universe." Louis answered. "But only if I can keep the ghosts in their universe. Now it seems they are finding ways to come to our world and that isn't good."
"Why, what would they do?" Micky asked.
"There are some very nasty ghosts in Ghost World who would love to take over this universe and enslave humans." Louis answered. "Most of the links are gone, but a few, like that mirror in the attic, are still intact. The metal surrounding the mirror, put there by wizards thousands of years ago, keeps ghosts from coming over here, but now maybe they're trying to find ways of coming here."
"Maybe that's why they tried to grab Micky." Mike replied, "To use him somehow."
"Yeah, but I got away before they could do anything." Micky lied.
"Do you have anything to keep the ghosts from coming out of that mirror, Louis?" Peter asked.
Louis went over to one of his lab tables and picked up a small black box. It was covered with buttons and lights. Micky smiled when he saw the device.
"This is a spectral transporter machine." Louis said. "I've been working on it for some time now."
"What does it do?" Micky asked, acting innocent.
"When activated, it sends out a ray, which a person can use to travel to Ghost World." Louis said, "It will also help keep the ghosts on their side of the mirror, but it can also loosen the blocks and let more ghosts come in. I was going to use this to let myself into the mirror so I could explore Ghost World, but now, I don't know."
"Seems like a useful device." Micky remarked.
There was a knock on the door and Louis went over and opened it. His wife was on the other side.
"It's time for supper." She said, "Come on up."
So the Monkees and Louis' family settled down to a big meal of Spaghetti. During the meal, Louis asked where Slimer was.
"I think he had some sort of virus." Mike said, "He couldn't talk all of a sudden."
"Must be pretty bad if he's missing supper." Gina remarked.

As everyone got ready for bed, Micky told the others he was going into the house to go to the bathroom, but what he did was sneak up into the attic once again. He flashed his eyes at the mirror and several ghosts appeared in the mirror.
"Yes, sir?" One of them said.
"That fool doctor has a device that will allow our kind to come over to the normal universe." Micky said, "I'm going to steal the device and use it to bring all of you over to this universe. And then...then we will enslave this world and I will be its master!" Micky laughed, and the others joined with him.

The next day was day before the big event.
Gina was helping the kids with their costumes, Louis had to leave for work early, due to an emergency. One of the horses that was suppose to march in the parade got an injury, and Louis had to check on the horse.
Meanwhile, the Monkees were at the center to rehearse for the show. The guys were trying to play, when they noticed something was wrong.
"Wait a minute fellas, something's up," said Mike.
Micky got nervous, because he thought Mike knew what was going on.
"I didn't do it," said Micky.
"Didn't do what?" asked Mike.
"Oh, nothing."
"I see something coming this way."
"You know what, I see it too," said Davy.
"Me too," said Peter.
What the guys saw was an object, wearing a long coat. The object moved closer to the guys and removed the coat.
"Slimer!" said Mike, Davy and Peter.
Micky just sat by his drums in utter shock.
"Slimer, are you feeling better?" asked Peter.
"You really shouldn't come out if you're sick," said Mike.
"Slimer not sick, Slimer saw," said Slimer.
He was interrupted, by Micky, who shown his eyes on him, making Slimer do repeat flips over and over.
"Slimer, I think you better go home, you're still not well," said Davy.
"I'll take Slimer home," said Micky, raising his hand.
"Ok, man." said Mike.
Micky wrapped Slimer up in the coat and walked for the house, but when he was a further distance from the guys, he ran.
Little did Micky know that while he was running, Slimer slipped through the coat, and zoomed back to the guys.
When Micky reached the house, he opened the coat and saw that Slimer was gone.
At first he was worried because he knew Slimer was going to the other Monkees about what was going on, but then he thought, by the time everyone comes to stop him, it will be too late. He raced into the lab, and approached the device.
"Now for my big plan," Micky said with a big laugh.

Meanwhile, back at the town center, Gina, the kids and Louis all met up with the Monkees.
"You know, Micky has been gone a long time now," said Davy.
"Yeah, I wonder where he could be." said Mike.
Just then Slimer appeared.
"Slimer, what are you doing back here," said Peter.
"Yeah, the guys told us you still weren't well, so Micky took you back home," said Louis.
"No! Slimer well, but Micky bad!" said Slimer.
"What do you mean?" asked Gina.
Slimer explained what happened to Micky and what he planned for next. Everyone was shocked.
"We gotta stop him!" said Louis.
Everyone piled into Louis' van and headed back to the house, hopefully, they could stop Micky in time.
When they got out of the car, they all charged into the house.
"Micky!" called Peter, Mike and Davy.
There was no answer.
"Let's check the house, he could be in one of the rooms," said Gina.
And with that, the Monkees, Louis, Gina and even the kids began to search for Micky.
"The mirror's gone!" said Davy, when he, Mike and Peter reached the attic.
"That could only mean one thing," said Mike.
"Oh no, he must be at Louis lab," said Peter.
The guys raced downstairs to Gina and the kids.
"Follow us, we think we know where Micky could be," said Mike.
Everyone rushed to the lab.
When they arrived, they saw Louis surrounded by broken glass, and papers thrown all over the place.
"Micky was definitely here, because not only is the place a mess, but the transport device is missing," said Louis.
"That means we're too late," said Gina.
Just then, the kids noticed something on the ground.
"Look, tracks," said Josh.
"Maybe we can see where the machine went," said Lucy.
"Good thinking kids," said Louis.
"Come on then," said Mike.
"Wait a minute, said Louis stopping him, If you surprise attack like that, the ghost might get you the same way they got Micky."
"Then what do we do?" asked Davy.
Louis picked up a book from the floor and began to read it.
"It says in this book that the only way a ghost will not attack you is if you're cover with a slime substance," he read.
"So, where are we going to get slime substance?" asked Peter.
"Me, me, me!" cried Slimer.
And with that, Slimer let out a big sneeze, covering everyone with slime.
Although the Monkees, Louis, Gina and the older kids didn't mind the younger kids did.
"Ewww!" said Kevin and Sally.
Mike looked at his slimy self and everyone else and said, “Well, I think we look slimed enough, come on."
The group followed the tracks to see that they lead to the farm, and they saw a light flashing from it.
"We're too late!" cried Peter.
"Let's check it out first," said Mike.
He lead everyone to one of the side doors, peeked their heads in, and saw that Micky did have the mirror and the device in the barn, and he shown his bright green eyes onto the mirror to summon the ghosts.
"Is all ready, Great Murko?" asked a ghost, on the other side of the mirror.
"Oh no, Murko." said Slimer.
"His spirit must be in Micky's body," said Davy.
Peter couldn't take anymore of these creatures hurting his friend.
"We gotta save Micky.” he said entering the barn.
"Peter no!" said Mike.
It was too late, for that moment, Peter approached Micky and said, “Leave my friend alone!"
But Micky just pushed Peter away. Everyone then raced into the barn.
"Peter, are you ok?" asked Davy.
"I'm fine, but I thought Louis said if we're covered with slime a ghost wouldn't attack you," said Peter.
"An ordinary ghost, but not a ghost as powerful as the one that got Micky," said Louis.
"Then what do we do?" asked Mike.
"We have to grab him."
"I think this would be the perfect time."
As Micky was about to turn the switch of the transporter device, Mike, Davy and Peter grabbed Micky.
"Bring him over here," said Louis pointing to a wooden exam table, that he uses.
The guys did just that and they strapped Micky's wrists and ankles to the table with some bands.
Though Micky was strapped in tightly, he began to struggle.
"Well, we got the other ghost under control for now, but what do we do about Murko?" asked Davy.
Louis read more of the book and said," The only was to remove the spirit from a person is to make the person laugh."
"That's the most oddest thing I ever heard," said Davy.
"It says so in the book," said Peter, reading off the pages.
"Well, we know exactly how to make Micky laugh," said Mike.
He then removed Micky's shoes and socks.
"Ready guys," Mike asked.
"Ready," answered Peter and Davy.
And with that, the guys began to tickle Micky.
"I sure hope this works," said Mike, as he tickled Micky's ribs, while Davy had the under arms and Peter and Slimer worked on Micky's bare feet.
Micky began to giggle, then laugh, and at that moment, Micky's eyes began to glow.
The glowing eyes shined on the mirror, sending the ghost to return to where it belonged.
As soon as the ghost returned to the other side of the mirror, Louis took a mallet, and broke the glass into a million pieces.
"That was close," said Slimer breathing a sigh of relief.
"I don't think so Slimer," said Gina, indicating the sound of Micky's laughter.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!" laughed Micky.
"No, that's the way Micky usually laughs," said Mike.
"Maybe we should stop tickling him," said Davy, and the guys stopped.
After Micky was able to catch his breath, he spoke. “What happened?"
"You were kidnapped by some ghosts, and you had your mind taken over by one of them," said Peter.
"Oh yeah?"
"Are you ok?" Louis asked.
"I'm fine, and thanks for saving me.” said Micky.
"You sure?" asked Davy.
"I'm sure." Micky changed his voice to sound deeper and said, “Or am I?"
Everyone began to get nervous.
"Got cha'," Micky said with a smile.
Mike, Davy, Peter and Slimer tickled Micky again.
"HAHAHAHAHA! STOP! HAHAHA! I'M SORRY HEHE!" laughed Micky.
The guys believed Micky, so they took the straps off of him.
Moments later, the guys were helping Louis, Gina and the kids clean up the barn.
"So Louis, what are you going to do with that transporter?" asked Davy.

“I’m going to destroy it,” Louis answered, “I’ve learned that there are methods of science that man was not meant to tamper with. I'm also going back to working with animals full-time."
"Why did you wanted to study ghosts in the first place?" asked Micky.
"I thought it would be interesting to see what my uncle knew, but I was meant to work in another field," answered Louis.
Gina and the kids were glad to hear that.

The next day was the big event.
Louis took care of the parade horse, and it was well enough to be in the pride.
Josh, Lucy ,Kevin and Sally got to ride on floats, and even won prizes for their costumes, but gave their ribbons to Gina as a thank you for making their costumes.
After the parade, there was a party at the center of town, and the Monkees, who were also dressed up, performed.
Mike was a cowboy, Davy dressed as a king, Peter a clown and Micky was a ghoul, courtesy of some ragged clothes and Slimer.
The guys received a wonderful response from the crowd.
"You guys were great," said Louis.
"Thanks," said Mike.
"I think this is the biggest crowd we ever had," said Micky.
"You can say that again," said Davy.
Just then, Slimer came over to the guys.
"Great show," he said.
Peter noticed Slimer was holding his stomach.
"What wrong Slimer," Peter asked.
"You sick?" asked Mike.
"No, he just ate too many sweets," said Gina, which made the kids and the guys laugh.

The next day, the Monkees left to go back home.
Slimer began to sniffle, because he was sad to see the Monkees go. But the guys told Slimer that he could come and visit anytime. Slimer felt better, and gave each of the guys a big slimy kiss.
They thanked Louis and his family for the wonderful visit, and for them to come and visit them anytime. And Louis and his family thanked the Monkees for performing and the event and they were welcome back.
The guys agree that despite the encounter with the ghosts, they had a fun Halloween.
