The Parents of Maggie Snow Oakley:
William Tyson Snow was born June 30, 1860 in Surry County, North Carolina. A farmer, he married Lucinda Elizabeth (Betty) Golding December 17, 1881. He died of "Consumption" August 19, 1906, at the age of 45 years and was buried at Franklin (also known as Flat Top) Primitive Baptist Church in Surry County.
Betty was born July 26, 1861 in North Carolina and died December 17, 1937. She had four children, including daughters Lula and Maggie. Lula Grace, born Aug. 1891, first married J.A. Atkinson and later married J. Early Shelton. She worked as an inspector in a knitting mill in Mt. Airy. Margaret J., called Maggie, born July 1892, married William Edgar Oakley on April 16, 1911. They had one child, Reba Grace. Maggie died of tuberculosis on March 20, 1915, and was buried near her parents at Franklin.
