Photographs were taken by Glenda Alexander at Rocky Fork Christian Church, 4246 Rocky Fork Church Road, Sanford, N.C. between 1997 and 2008.

The church was started by ten families from Surry County, North Carolina, who moved to the Sandhills in the 1920's to farm tobacco. They held their first service on this site in 1924. Oscar and Ida Oakley were the first of the Oakley family to move from Surry, sometime before 1930. They were followed by Oscar's brother Ed and his family around 1936. The Oakley brothers' cousin Daniel and wife Cora Doby Hodges and other relatives were also buried in the church cemetery.
