Sun Ra was my first teacher. I listened to the Batman and Robin Album (The Sensational Guitars of Dan & Dale) over and over again as a child even as the record developed more and more repeating skips. Turns out Sun Ra was actually the genius behind that record. It is that music I loved first and most of all (well, that and "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies (another amazing record!)). The music on Batman and Robin is loaded with hook after mutated instrumental hook. It's the same song over and over but different every time.
