I've heard many
people say that breeding Variable kingsnakes is like opening gifts on Christmas morning....You never know what you're going to get. A single clutch of eggs can result in grey bands, milk
snake phase, leonis phase and even completely melanistic jet black snakes. Variable kings stay relatively small, are generally very tame and make excellent captives. Working with these snakes has been very rewarding for me. In my opinion, they are one of the most fun colubrids to breed and keep.
