Giggles is inspired by my Granddaughter, Emaleigh. That's her with Chloe on the right. Chloe, an Apricot Toy Poodle, was a gift from Uncle Brad and Aunt Christy shortly after Emaleigh's diagnosis.

Miss Emaleigh is quick to inform us, Chloe isnt a dog . . . but a Poodle. I've been there, done that. My suggestion? Don't go there!

We wanted Giggles to be an informative, yet uplifting place to visit. Giggles - is a bit of both worlds.

If youre wondering why the Dolphin theme, its for Emaleigh. And . . . if you saw her bathroom you'd wonder no more. Shower curtain, bathmat, trash can, etc., and wherever other Dolphin related items find a spot throughout the house.

Emaleigh was chosen as one of the gifted children to attend a week at Mercer College Children's Writing class. Her short story and poem will be in Mercer's publication and for the November, 2003, commencement. Emaleigh is an awesome young lady and loves to write and has a natural talent for painting.

Since Emaleigh's cruise to Cozumel with her parents, in the summer of 2003, Dolphins are more of a fascination than ever.

Yep. That's our beautiful Emaleigh shown below, swimming with a Dolphin. When he kissed her, she thought the kiss was an extraordinary event.

I told her a Dolphin represents blessings. She agrees.

And . . . as it turns out, Emaleigh would need all the blessings God will bestow upon her. Take a look at our beautiful grandchild, then read about her diagnosis approximately two months after her encounter with the Dolphin.

For those who believe, know without a doubt -- No encounter is without Divine Intervention.

Diagnosis

July 4, 2003, Emaleigh was diagnosed (at Scottish Rite Hospital) with Wilms' Kidney Tumor (Kidney Cancer). Within the week of July 15, results of Stage IV, Anaplasia Unfavorable Histology became a reality.

Research confirms Wilms’ Tumor is a common, and fast growing childhood cancer, but has a high rate of cure. Additional chemotherapy drugs are required during Emaleigh's treatment, because of diagnosis complications.

At first diagnosis, the doctors were unsure if the cancer was bilateral or not. (In both kidneys) But . . . the miracle we prayed for, and God granted, is that tests now show, the left kidney is cancer free.

Praise God.

This heartache is an incomprehensible nightmare. I'd rather it had been me than our precious little grandchild. She's only eight years old. So beautiful, bright and the light in all our lives. Our world has fallen apart and our hearts are broken.  To see the despair on her Mom and Dad's face shatters our souls beyond repair.

But, we believe in miracles. We pray God will wrap her in His loving arms and heal her. Emaleigh has a bright and exciting future ahead of her and we want the best for her always.

Please join us in prayer for Emaleigh's  full recovery and to keep her parents strong. I wish I could take their pain, but can only stand by and watch God in His wisdom take control of the situation. We have such love for this sweet-baby-girl and know that God's love along with ours, will carry her through these tough times.

Emaleigh's mom and dad are standing strong and doing everything possible for Emaleigh. God has given us strength and the courage to deal in a positive way. So it's with faith in God and a hopeful heart, we're holding her up to God and passing through this valley.
