The Cockroach

This locomotive started its life as a Hartland Value Line 2-axle flat car. The main components were scavenged from a Ozark
Miniatures Portable Steam Power Plant kit. The boiler was turned from a Silver Ridge Mining Company water tank. Originally
the unit was powered by a NWSL Magic Carpet Drive. The unit is now powered by a following tender made from a small (center
cab) Aristocraft power truck. The unit has smoke, the lantern lights and the steam engine turns. Details are from Ozark,
Trackside Details, Shortline Car and Foundry, Precsion Scale and others.

16 ton Dunkirk Class B

The Dunkirk was an early competitor to the Climax, Shay and Heisler geared steam locomotives. The Dunkirk was considered
a "Clean Shay" due to the fact that the "V" cylinders were housed inside the cab. This model began life
as a pair of Bachmann Climax trucks. The Majority of the unit is built of wood with the wood for the cab being 1/32"
birch aircraft plywood. The boiler was fashioned from PVC fittings and styrene. The details were from the usual suppliers.

Class A Shay

This Locomotive was built from a Bachmann Ely Thomas Two-truck, three-cylinder Shay. In the early days of logging lokes an
outfit might not have enough revenue to merit buying an entire locomotive. Often times the owner would purchase parts- cylinders,
driveline and trucks then add their own body and boiler to build a backwoods steam monster. For this model I cut down the
cylinders, shortened the driveline and used an Ozark Miniatures boiler. The unit has a Sierra sound system, operating firebox
and headlight. It even has a classic Shay wobble while running.
