One Night Alone tour: 2002

Prince was again at the top of his game with this tour, his best, in my opinion, since the Lovesexy tour. The shows I saw at the Kodak Theater in April were among the best shows I’ve ever seen by anyone. Every night, there was something different – whether it was the band, which sometimes included Candy Dulfer on horns, or Maceo Parker, or Najee, or Eric Leeds.

The US leg of the tour contained most songs played on the ONA Live official release, and usually went in this order:

The Rainbow Children, Muse 2 the Pharaoh, Xenophobia, A Case of U, Mellow, 1+1+1=3/Love Rollercoaster, The Other Side of the Pillow, Strange Relationship, Pass the Peas, Sing a Simple Song, When u Were Mine, Avalanche, Family Name, Take Me With U, Raspberry Beret, Everlasting Now (sometimes he played Santana Medley instead)

Encore: Piano medley: Adore, I Wanna Be Your Lover, Do Me Baby, Condition of the Heart, Diamonds and Pearls, The Beautiful Ones, Nothing Compares 2 U, Free, Starfish and Coffee, Sometimes it Snows in April, I Love U But I don’t Trust u Anymore, How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore, Anna Stesia

In addition, members of Prince’s NPG Music Club were also admitted to the soundcheck for that concert, at which time Prince picked from more than 100 different songs, including many never before played in concert such as Elephants and Flowers, Can’t Stop this Feelin’ I got, Money Don’t Matter 2Night, Dolphin, Sweet Baby, Power Fantastic, etc., which were all rehearsed for the Celebration at Paisley Park in Minneapolis at the end of June. During that week, these 100 songs were all played.
