"The Harmonious Division of Spaces"
an Advanced Class in the Sacred Geometry of the Golden Ratio
with Richard Feather Anderson

Saturday, Aug. 28, 10 am - 2 pm 2004

This is the last class in our summer series, which is devoted to the exploration of the Golden Ratio, the most astounding geometrical relationship in the universe. Glimpse why the ancient wise ones were intrigued and mystified by it. (You may take this class without having attended the previous ones.)

  • Learn how to apply the principle of the Golden Spiral to divide any rectangle into subspaces that are in harmony with the whole (which can be applied to architecture, interior design, feng shui, or fine art).
  • Study traditional applications of the Golden Ratio and the Root 5 Proportion in art & architecture (e.g., the Parthenon, Giza Pyramid, Greek vases
  • Bring the same universal proportions that shape plants, animals, DNA, and the human skeleton into artistic creations.
  • Glimpse the keys to create beautiful art and architecture that feed the Soul, reflect human nature and resonate with the Cosmos

For Intermediate to Advanced Students only:

PRE-REQUISITES: In order to explore geometry at a more advanced level, these classes are only open to those who have already acquired a basic understanding of symbolic geometry.

  • Attendance at a geometry workshop with Richard Feather, or others who are teaching in the traditions of Pythagorian-Platonic Mystery Schools or Islamic sacred art.
  • Construction, with compass and straight edge, of the "root harmony" rectangles (root2, root3, root5), the golden mean rectangle, and the vesica piscis.
  • Ability to determine the numerical relationships within right angle triangles using the Pythagorian Theorem (or to understand the steps when demonstrated by others)
