Included in this section you will find the writings by and about our ancestors. Some are books written, some are words said, some are touching, some are mundane. But they are the writings of people whose lives were vastly different than our own.

Please note: The following text has been transcribed as originally written. There are a few misspelled names herein, for example, Michael Callaghan's sister's name is spelled Mrs. Kearins in one obit. and Mrs. Michael Curran in another. Even Michael Callaghan's name, spelled with a "g" on his marriage and death certificates but the "g" is dropped when it comes to Chicago police records. Just wanted to let you know so you didn't think we were falling asleep at the wheel here :~)

History and service of
The 10th Missouri (US) Infantry

Organized in August of 1861, the 10th Missouri Infantry saw much action, especially in the sieges of Corinth and Iuka Mississippi. What follows is a historical record of the 10th Missouri Infantry and their assignments. We have also included a short description of Rev. Palmer's enlistment into the 10th.
