Genealogy
Planet's main reason
for being is twofold: |
First, our family would like to provide you with a look at our own Surname List and the research that are own family researcher, Joan (Mom), has unearthed in the past ten years since my Uncle Alex sent me a pedigree chart with what he had uncovered at that time. We would like to share our information with others in the hope that this may shed some light on both sides. While you're here why not sit back and take a look at our Gallery of over 100 photographs from 1858 to 1996 of our ancestors, as well as a gallery of illustrated carte-de-visite backings for your viewing. If you need links to many types of maps, tons of history, passenger lists, national archives around the world, or much more just click the Links button to see what we have. Another item that we have brought here to our planet is our ancestors' Writings area. We hope that this collection helps to give a feel for what life was like in what seems eons ago in a frontier we no longer know. |

Secondly, for those of you that might be new to genealogy, the researching of your ancestors may at times seem a daunting task. You probably will at some time find yourself asking, what is that Family History Center I've heard about, or, what is a gedcom file? You may also start to wonder if your up to double dating or if soundex is that new group your kids listen to. We hope to help push you in the right direction by providing you with a large Glossary of genealogical terms and definitions, which we hope will be very helpful to you when reading those 18th century wills. We also provide to you our Gen 101 page which gives beginning genealogy tips and links, as well as a section on recommended questions for interviewing family members. And speaking of links, we have a specially tailored Links 101 section just for our new soon to be researchers that gives loads of useful beginner's sites so you can become an expert in no time. |
So, if you are ready to take a look, enjoy, for that is what researching your family past is all about; learning some history along the way but, also most importantly, learning about yourself. |
