Ahh, passenger lists, one of the most important resources that
are many times overlooked. It used to be that you would set some aside
some time to go to a fairly large genealogical library or university
and look through dusty books to find your ancestor and the ship that
they may have boarded for their journey. Now, the internet is bringing
these lists to you in a ever increasing amount. One very slight word
of caution may be appropriate though. The transcribers of passenger
lists, most are volunteers who transcribe for the love of genealogy
and sharing, make every effort to transcribe the script writing of
long ago, they are like us, we are all human. In most cases if a name
is indecipherable the list will notate this. If you do find an ancestor
on one of the sites below check it like you would any other source,
by setting some time aside and going through the books at a genealogical
library. You never know, you may find another ancestor in another
book while your hunting.
With that said, happy hunting.
