Our Miniature Horses fill a void created when my advancing arthritis prevented me from handling 'big' horses without risk of serious injury. Our Minis are registered with the American Miniature Horse Registry and are all 'B' size. We love the little ones but our goal is to produce a horse (pony) with the elegance of the 'A' Mini in a size that allows children to ride and drive them without fear of putting too much stress on the pony.
Iddy Biddy

Gemini Farm would like to welcome Iddy Biddy...a 2 year old purebred Thoroughbred filly that was rescued from someone that didn't feel she had value because she is too small to race.
The farm is serving as a foster home for Cozy Hillside Horse Rescue

Iddy is one of the sweetest horses we have ever had on the farm. She is kind, respectful, has great barn manners and sensible. Besides the wonderful temperament, she is also lovely, With big kind eye, correct confirmation and nice movement. She is too thin to ride so her training level and the riding skill needed by an adopter have not been evaluated yet. Hopefully, she will be in good enough shape in the next two months to get the evaluation done. We suspect she is green broke and just waiting for someone with training skills to bring out her abilities. Please feel free to make an appointment to visit Iddy...and bring treats

Hawk:

Hawk is 'the little man' of the farm now, and he reigns over his 'mini woman' and his two 'big mammas'. He would love to have continual visiting rights and we wish we could allow him to continue producing the beautiful babies he is capable of giving us....but the economy and the horse market are just too terrible right now to justify putting more horses into this world. Besides, we can barely allow any of our horses to go to new homes....thus the large herd of ponies that roam the fields without a care all year long.

". . . the deer, the horse, the great eagle, these are our brothers. The rocky crests, the juices in the meadows, the body heat of the pony and man — all belong to the same family. . . . The White Man must treat the beasts of this land as his brothers." Chief Seattle

Henry:

We would like to introduce you to Handsome Henry...another 2007 mini baby. Henry's mom, Rita is a very proud mamma. It looks like Henry is going to be a dun just like his mom. Henry is sired by Hawk. Henry is available to a pet home. He must be gelded and we require that the home be within one hour of the farm. We will check references, do a home visit and require that Henry is returned to us if the purchaser can not keep him for any reason. We are looking for a VERY special home for Henry and if the perfect home doesn't come along Henry will stay here and become a part of the Gemini Farm mini herd. (And it spite of what John Lennon said, Henry has yet to dance any waltzes)

Promise:

Meet Promise. She is a Hawk x Softy daughter for 2007. Chances are she will be sticking around for a very long time.
In the picture on the right, it's Softy and Promise in enjoying the back yard.

"What is the use of this fuss about morality when the issue only involves a horse? The first and most difficult teaching of civilization concerns man's behaviour to his inferiors. Make humanity gentle or reasonable toward animals, and strife or injustice between human beings would speedily terminate." Dr. Edward Mayhew

Dove and Birdie

Dove

Dove is a Bluejay and Hawk daughter and was this spring's first bundle of joy. She is about two months old in these photos. She looks tiny but she is going to be a good size B mini.

Dove will join Henry and Promise as the newest members of the Gemini Farm mini herd

Birdie

A picture of Birdie, another of Hawk's offspring.

As you can see, Hawk has been a busy guy. We have to make sure the vet is not slipping him any little blue pills

The "Queen" --   Down Virginia

This is the queen of the pasture. She is a registered Thoroughbred mare named Down Virginia and originally came from the track where she had a less than successful career. While she is dominant in her pasture world she is a sweet and gentle mare around people.

Look back on our struggle for freedom,
Trace our present day's strength to it's source;
And you'll find that man's pathway to glory
Is strewn with the bones of a horse

Benny the Bonkey

We call Benny a "bonkey" because his mom was a donkey and his dad was a burro. I purchased Benny when he was four months old and he has turned out to be quite the star at the farm. Benny LOVES people more than anything else and would like nothing better than to be invited into the house and cries pitifully when we leave him in his pasture. His cries and bellowing are heard up and down the valley and he is known for miles around by his very loud voice

Benny is finally learning what it's like to be a grown up donkey. His teachers come to the farm as we will not allow him to leave us. The middle pictures is of Benny and his two teachers. Benny is a quick learner and is already driving nicely. However we must admit, Benny seems happier just mugging for the camera, as in the above end photos with Hawk in the background

This photo was taken this spring and is a photo of all our mares. The brood mares, the two yearlings and our little dwarf Willow.

Of course, since we're in the northeast, things aren't always green and balmy.

The Heart of a Horse

When your day seems out of balance and so many things go wrong...
When people fight around you and the day drags on so long...
When parents act like children, in-laws make you think "Divorce"...
Go out into your pasture...and wrap your arms around your horse.
His gentle breath enfolds you, and he watches with those eyes
He may not have a PhD, but he is, oh so wise!
His head rests on your shoulder, you embrace him oh so tight.
He puts your world in balance, and makes it seem all right.
Your tears they soon stop flowing, the tension is now eased.
The garbage has been lifted, and you're quiet and at peace.
So when you need the balance from circumstances in your day...
The best therapy that you can seek...is out there eating hay!!
