As our home page indicates, Gemini Farm has been many things through the years but our primary goal over the past few years
has been rescue and sanctuary. We are not a 501c3 and probably will never be as we do not have the help to accept all the
animals that are brought to us and feel that 501c3 status carries an obligation for rescue groups to devote all resources
to rescue. While much of what we do is rescue, that isn't the soul purpose of Gemini Farm.
Many of the animals we take in are not adoptable for one reason or another. Our birds are extremely aggressive and the owner
could not find a home for them. We do not take adoptable birds unless there is no legitimate bird rescue group available
to take them. Most of the cats are here because the the horrendous overpopulation problem in our area today. No matter how
cute kittens are, there just aren't enough homes to go around and our local shelters are always full to overflowing with cats
and kittens looking for that special home. The goats and rabbits and chickens are usually cast offs of Easter. Once these
cute babies grow up they are no longer welcome in homes that at one time lavished love and attention on them. We occassionally
will have a horse, pony or pot bellied pig available and will also consider taking in any other farm animal in need if we
have space and correct resources to help them. So we take what we can and hope that we will be able to find loving PERMANENT
homes for some. Finding homes for them is a long process as we insist that applicants fill out an adoption application (see
application link below) and go through a screening process. That screening process varies with the species being considered
for adoption.
If you are interested in adopting an animal from us please contact us about requirements. There is always an adoption fee
however that adoption fee is minimal and designed to assist us in covering our expenses. All cats and dogs are placed after
spay/neuter unless they are youngers. In these cases you will be charged a refundable deposit which will be refunded when
you provide proof of spay/neuter. Depending on the circumstances, we often do a home visit. We like to see that the adopter
has past experience with animals however that is not required.
To submit an adoption application, click on the link below and either print the file and mail the completed form back to Gemini
Farm, or save the file to a .txt file and complete it electronically and e-mail back it as an attachment.
