November, 2007 through March-
At home in Melbourne, Florida with short visits to kids throughout the winter.
Early November- We hightailed
it for home, with a great stop in Topsail Beach. That campground is one of the most beautiful places ever. Count us as members
of the Topsail Cult!
End of October- Spent a few days at the Grand Canyon. It is so incredible--- I wish
I knew how to take a photograph that would convey what we saw. It is truly awesome!
October- In transit to Beaudry
RV, in Tucson, AZ for the Datastorm rally. Spent more than a week there, met some really nice people, and had our dish "tuned
up." It was great to meet gurus, Bill and Janet Adams, and put faces to names.
September- We started south
in California, with stops in San Francisco, Morro Bay, Malibu, and over to Palm Springs. We had a great visit with Alex and
Per in Cambria. The fact that we were able to stay in an RV Park in Malibu was a real hoot! There we were, right across from
the ocean, in the land of outrageous real estate. We did the tourist thing and drove all over movie-star-land. (See obligatory
photo of the Hollywood sign!)
Rest of August- We backtracked some, and toured the North Cascades.
The scenery was great, but the rain seemed neverending.
Early August- On to Glacier National Park in Montana.
We drove the "Going to the Sun" road by car. Just breathtaking!
To end of July- We toured the scenic routes around Washington
and Oregon. We walked docks everywhere there were docks, especially Washington State, (Gig Harbor, Anacortes and more,) and
got, and stayed wet and cold!
July 12- Lisa and Tim
took the Riglet, a week off, and we went to Astoria, and then an oceanfront campground on Long Beach, WA. The dogs loved running
on the beach with Sierra.
July 11- We complete the circle of the Magical Mystery Family Tour..... and
visit with Lisa, Tim, and Sierra in Portland, OR.
July 6- Moved on to Graham, WA. Stayed in an RV park called "Rainier View"---
and it surely was! We drove up as far as they would let us-- it is just unbelievable to this flatlander! Unfortunately, no
snow.
June 28- Spent some time in Anacortes, WA. Walked docks, and took a terrific
ride up to the snow line on Mount Baker. Absolutely gorgeous!! Rosie loved the snow.
June 21- Spent a week in Bellingham, WA. Cold and rainy, but we were so glad
to be back. Walked a few docks, and hung out.
June 17- We took Hudson's Loop on the way south--- absolutely lovely. (Even
with several 10% grades going down to the lake!!)
June 16- We have a meeting---- and turn around, headed back to the US of
A. Between the mud, dust, rough roads, and mosquitos by Boeing.....we decided that we'd rather explore our own country.....
in more comfortable circumstances! See revised map below.
June 13-15- Whitehorse, Yukon Territory- The road on the way here was mud,
gravel, and more mud. We have our first chip in our windshield, and it is cold and raining. The road was washboard for part
of the way. The scenery was lovely, but hard to see through the rain.
June 10-12- Watson Lake, BC- We made a sign, and posted it in the signpost
forest. (See pics.)
June 7-9- In Dawson Creek, the start of the Alaska Highway. (See obligatory
photo!)
May 21- 26- On the way to Great Falls, where we'll stop for a week or so
to get mail and prescriptions.
May 18, 2007- Deadwood, SD!!!! Very cool!! The town has only a few remnants
of the original buildings--- because the town burned down 3 times! So, we were either in history, or in HBO! Loved it!
May 16, 2007- In Hermosa, South Dakota- drove to Mount Rushmore, and it was
astounding. It's wierd to see something in person that you've seen your whole life in pictures. Yup--- it really looks like
that!
May 12, 2007- Today we're in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. For a reason unknown
to me, it never occurred to me that there were "falls" in Sioux Falls. There are---- and pretty, too. See pic in the picture
section.
May 10, 2007- We're in Forest City, Iowa, at the Winnebago-Itasca factory.
We had a few minor things adjusted on the coach, and then took a tour of the factory. Amazing! Tomorrow we're on the way to
Mount Rushmore, and then the "badlands" of So. Dakota!! Deadwood here we come!
April 12, 2007- We visit Monticello... Thomas Jefferson made sure he had
some great views from his house! We learned that because of this, it was difficult for Mr. J to get water up the hill to the
house!
April 5, 2007- In College Park, Maryland- Drove into DC to see the cherry
blossoms, one day too late! We were, however, just in time for a late, crazy, snow! (See pics again...) Florida Vicki was
jazzed---- and cold!
March 24- 27- en route to Solomons, MD to get our stuff off of the boat.
We stayed at Take-It-Easy Campground in Calloway, near the boat. Also kissed, cleaned and loved-on "Blue Moon". Whoever buys
her will get a much-loved yacht! After we finished that, we installed a Sirius Satellite Radio in the RV. Heaven!
March 19, 2007- 4 nights in Fort Myers--and a visit to the beach with Rosie-
(see pics!) We love it when "they" allow dogs on the beach!!
March 15, 2007- Fort Lauderdale to visit David and
Susana-- Phase 2 of MMFT!
March 9, 2007- Spent some time in Sarasota visiting Jason and Allison and Grandkids. Phase one of the Magical,
Mystery Family Tour!
March 9, 2007- The Magical Mystery Family Tour begins!
January 19, 2007- RV show in Tampa- Boy oh boy--- we have never seen such
huge and luxurious RV's! We were on a bunch of custom coaches-- Prevost, etc. Wow! Too glitzy for us and way too $$$$$.....
We also "met" our engine, and took a quick tour of it. The primary vendors of interest to us turned out to be cruising guides,
and destination booths. We met a few "cruisers" and got some good info about Alaska. We're jazzed and ready to go
Here's a map of our proposed travels for 2007. Looks
ambitious! We'll probably do some winging it along the way-- even more fun! We plan to leave in early March, stop in Solomons,
MD, to get our stuff off the boat, and list it for sale. After that--- we're on the road!!
