You should have receive, or will shortly receive, by snail mail the contest
instruction and score sheets for the 2009 SCMFS Author and Editor contest (for
bulletins and newsletters published in 2008). The contest overview,
instructions, and score sheets have all been posted on the web. Below are links
to these files. The score sheets are in PDF but can be filled in on you
computer. However, they can not be
saved, only printed. Check out the
contest instructions on how to use free PDF printer programs that will allow
you to save them if necessary
The absolute deadline for me to receive entries is 16 January 2008. However,
I am leaving on a business trip on the 17th and would really like to
have the entries in hand by 10 January if possible.
I would like every club to enter this year. Winning a trophy or certificate
would be nice, but I would hope you would use the contest as a means of
improving you newsletter and articles. The score sheet lists certain things
that should be in your newsletter/articles/poems, so they are a learning tool
for the next year too. Additionally, the graded score sheets will be returned
to you at the next SCMFS Convention . You can look at
the comments from the judges - still another way to improve your end products.
The trophies and certificates are nice, but the education you can get from the
score sheets and contest is really the most important aspect.
I would encourage you to read the cover letter and contest instructions
closely. There are a few important changes for this year, but I am not going to
repeat them here, except for two items. First is that Features are now an AFMS
category; our score sheet has been modified to be the same as the AFMS score
sheet. Second, if you look at the list
of score sheets below you will notice that there is no website score sheet.
Websites are an independent contest this year, and also an AFMS contest. If you
want to enter you website you are going to have to fill in an entry form and
score sheet, so please se the separate instructions for websites
Here are the links to the files. They are all on the Pleasant Oaks G&MC
website. I have asked the SCFMS webmaster to either add the files to the SCFMS
pages, or to just link to the www.pogmc.org pages.

hours to enter the newsletter or articles/poems/etc. from you club members.
