68' Gretsch Super Bass

What a find! This is an extremely rare Valco Gretsch, it came out about the same time as a Fury, Model 6161, this 6157. The wild thing about this amp is it has 2 separate amps but is mono, each side drives a separate speaker. This is why they are so rare, people not knowing any better would use a standard speaker cable and toast the amp. It uses a stereo 1/4" jack. This one did not work when I found it but Jon Davidson worked his magic and now sounds amazing! It has 2 of the cleanest 67' Jensen C12Ns I have ever seen! The amp has covers and was covered so they look brand new! I would have to dial a guitar in but for bass, it is scary! I turned it up to about 3 o'clock, no distortion, just clean, defined, loud bass. I feel fortunate to have this one!

65' Standel Custom XV

Another classic! Yes, I emailed Standel guru and owner, Dan McKinney and it is the Wes Montgomery model, 4 ohm JBL D-130 and all! Go out to YouTube and look up Wes and see one of these in action. Early transistor combo, 70 watts of warm, clean power with the warmth of a D-130. It easy to see why Wes used one! Other than the grill hole, a very intact amp, even original leather handle. Yes, it has been a good year!

75' Fender Quad Reverb

Had to buy this one, still has the tags. Paid too much for it but it is all original with Utah speakers and all RCA tubes. Tried to get it to break up, my ears are still ringing! Basically a Twin with 4-12" speakers, this was Waylon Jennings choice of amps. Waylon used 2 of these with is leather covered Tele and MXR phase shifter. What an amp!

73' Ampeg VT-22

Is this a fun hobby or what! I always wanted one of these! When the Ampeg line came out in the early 70s, it seemed like their goal was to blow away Fender. This thing will eat a Twin for lunch! Of course, the V-4 with both cabs was a force, and what about the SVT, probably the unchallenged king of tube amps! This is the combo version of the V-4 with 4-7027 power tubes, this one was pre-Magnavox. Great sounding amp and very versatile, when they came out, they had a chart of how to mimic different types of amps and was pretty close plus very loud!
