I am a long time resident of Albuquerque. I enjoy the mountains and outdoor
activities in New Mexico. I maintain a hiking web site
describing about 40 day hikes in the Sandia Mountains.
I have recently gotten a GPS, and enjoy using it in the mountains. If you're an outdoorsman and a nerd, I can't imagine a better toy. I enjoy GeoCaching every chance I get. This hobby has taken me to a lot of neat places around New Mexico that I would otherwise never have visited.
I work at Sandia National Laboratories, in the Chemical Processing Sciences Department. I have worked in the field of Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) for over 23 years. What is it good for? One exciting possibility that we are working on is Semiconductor (Solid State) Lighting.
I
have recently finished a writing a graduate-level text book entitled
Chemically
Reacting Flow, published by John Wiley & Sons. The book was written with my long-time friend and colleague Bob Kee from the
Colorado School of Mines, and Peter Glarborg from the Technical University of
Denmark. The book describes research that we have been collaborating on for over
20 years.
I spend a lot of time at my church, Sandia Presbyterian, and enjoy working as a volunteer with our Middle School and Senior High Youth Programs. One of the highlights each year is a mission trip to the area of Tijuana, Mexico. We have built seventeen houses for low income families over the past eight years.
