Any true science of health and longevity must
be in accord with the laws of Nature. The Ancient Ayurveda
was one such system. Please note that when the word Ayurveda is used,
it is referring to an archetypal healing system, and not the one associated
solely with Indian Medicine. Today’s practice of Ayurveda in
the east and here in the west is not the real, ancient Ayurvedic practice.
The
Ancient Ayurveda is tied to a true science of the stars. It differs
significantly from modern Ayurveda. For example, it suggests
that body-type does not determine, or even heavily influence one’s
disease tendencies. It places great emphasis on seven
archetypal diseases:
the
diseases of
Heat (Sun),
Cold (Moon),
Lightness (Mars),
Heaviness (Jupiter),
Dryness (Saturn),
Oiliness (Venus) and
Mixed (Mercury or Nodes).
There
are also seven major therapies in the Ancient Ayurveda: Cooling,
Fomentation, Nourishing, Lightening, Oleating, Drying, and Mixed.
