After evening net on Monday, 90504 held a local net to test propagation in their area. This allowed them to try different radios, antennas positions, elevations etc. and receive multiple signal reports from more than one station. They operated simplex with a PL so there were no interference issues. I think all zips could benefit from this kind of exercise. Thanks to Scott, AB6YS and ZC of 90504. He had participation from most 04 TARA members as well as some out of area and one visitor. Although 90504 still has difficulty hitting K6TPD, their local simplex net went well and consider overall a success.

Many thanks for all that managed to drag themselves out into the rainy morning on Saturday to attend the 220SMA general meeting. I know there were no definitive answers forthcoming, but I think the fact that TARA members outnumbered members of the 220SMA organization showed them just how serious we are to have our interference issue resolved. I was assured by all board members that K6TPD is on the top of their list for the next coordination meeting and that they will be addressing our issue at that time.

Walt K1DFO's next amateur radio classes, both Technician and General, are scheduled for Febuary 4 and 11, 2012. The Technician class is from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM both days, and General from 2:15 PM to 5:00 PM. The FCC tests will be given on Feburary 18 from 10 AM to noon. All this is at Hesse park in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Please pass this on to anyone you know who is interested in becoming a ham, or upgrading to General.
