Ann Berman, a new member of FTPG, is originally from Pittsburgh, PA. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, in 1995, and received her Masters of Fine Arts degree from Mills College in 1999. While living in St. Louis, Ann performed with David Marchant, Paul Mosley, and Ross Winter's Mid-America Dance Company (MADCO). Since moving to the Bay Area in 1996, Ann has performed with many wonderful companies and choreographers, including Melissa Fenley, Megan Nicely, Katherine Davis, Dance Repertory/San Francisco, Strong Current Dance Company, Zaccho Dance Theatre, Huckabay McAllister Dance and EmSpace Dance. As a choreographer, Ann has presented her work both locally and nationally. She is the Artistic Director of her brand new dance company, Bibliodance.
Chris Black co-founded POTRZEBIE Dance Project in 1993. She has been awarded two residencies at the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. She was nominated for a 2002 Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for her choreography for Art Street Theatre’s original musical Io—Princess of Argos! She received a 2002 Individual Artist Commission from the San Francisco Arts Commission in support of her acclaimed solo dance-theater piece, The Ecstasy of Saint Whatshername. She has choreographed three films for director Kia Simon, including The Dive, which was featured at the 2003 San Francisco International Film Festival and was aired on MTV2. Chris was named “young choreographer to watch” by Ballettanz in 2003. She is currently a participant in the ODC Theater Verge Residency Program.
Dancing since he was... oh never mind. Alan has performed with FTPG since 1995 and boy are we having fun. Other than rehearsing with Ken and Cynthia, climbing on rock and plastic, taking class from Lizz Roman, who rocks, he has a day job that gives him time and interesting moments. He has performed recently with Mary Armentrout and her merry band of crazies. He hopes to keep performing for another.... oh never mind.
Shawn Oda first performed with Ken in his master's thesis concert at UCLA in 1991, where she received her BA in Dance and Choreography. Shawn started dancing with Fellow Travelers during the 2004 season. Among her other numerous accomplishments are her twin girls, Franny and Jojo.
Julie gleefully escaped Nevada in 2000, crossing the border untainted by dance technique bar the rare but precious opportunities to learn from L. Martina Young and Diane Rugg. While pursuing her MS in Geography at the University of Nevada in Reno, she performed in theatre productions with The Actory, the intergenerational dance company Wing & a Prayer and the modern AREA-51 Dance Theatre, and earned subscript credits in a few independent films. Since moving to San Francisco Julie has worked with Strong Current Dance Company, Huckaby McCallister Dance, Peck Peck Dance Ensemble, EmSpace Dance, Rebecca Salzer Dance Theatre, and with the lovely Hilary Bryan, Ann Berman, Elly Karl, and Leyya Tawil. Julie started performing with Fellow Travelers in 2004.
