1
I have a Darling Little Edna
Her age I cannont tell
For they reckon not by years
Where she has gone to dwell
To us for twelve short months
Her infant smiles were given
And then she bade farewell to earth
And went to live in Heaven

2
I cannot tell what form is hers
What looks she weareth now
Nor guess how bright a glory crowns
Her shining seraph brow
The thoughts that fill her sinless soul
The bliss which she doth feel
Are numbered with the things
Which God will not reveal

3
But I know, for God hath told me this
That she is now at rest
Where other blessed infants be
On their loving Savior's breast
I know her spirit feels no more
This weary load of flesh
But her sleep is blest with endless dreams
Of joy forever fresh

4
I know the Angels fold her close
Beneath their glittering wings
And soothe her with the sweetest song
That breathes of Heaven's divinest things
I know we shall meet our baby
Her father dear & I
When God shall wipe all tears
Away from every eye

Written to the memory of little Edna by her mother, Sept. 6, 1911.
