Satisfy That Blues Craving With A Midnight Snack at WHQR...

Public radio's late-night foray into the blues couldn't happen at a better time. WHQR 91.3 FM brings you Front Street Blues, produced and hosted by Lan Nichols, every Friday at midnight, right here in the heart of the Port City.

The program presents an eclectic variety of music from within the blues genre, including traditional, contemporary, and classic blues peppered with the stylistic flavorings of Chicago, Piedmont, Memphis, West Coast, Delta, Gospel, Texas, Swamp, Pre-War, Urban, R&B, Soul, and British Blues.

FSB is also proud to feature local blues musicians and listeners spinning their favorite blues CD's and sharing their unique blues experiences with our audience. Front Street Blues also supports live blues performances and jam sessions staged throughout the city, year round. As well, artists and labels are encouraged to submit their music to FSB for airplay.

Front Street Blues broadcasts from the studios of WHQR 91.3 FM located high atop the Warwick Building in historic downtown Wilmington.

In addition to bringing the best in recorded blues to the airwaves, FSB is also proud to partner with the Blues Society of the Lower Cape Fear, a non-profit cultural organization that promotes and perpetuates blues music throughout the Cape Fear region. Best known for their renown weekly Blues Jams and the annual Cape Fear Blues Festival, the BSLCF is a recognized affiliate of The Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN and has established a formidable Internet presence with their website at www.capefearblues.com.
